Victoria Rowell Blogs About Return to The Young and the Restless

On her official website - login is required - Victoria Rowell writes about rumors that she'd return to The Young and the Restless:

"Thank you so much for your continued support as I criss-crossed the country. Your love of my work as the writer of “The Women Who Raised Me”; as an actress on Young and the Restless and Diagnosis Murder; as well as my film work, has been a blessing.

You’ve shown me that my performances are more than Daytime drama to you. Over 4 million people have visited me here on my website and for you; I would like to answer the ubiquitous question of:

“Are you coming back to the Young and the Restless?”

Well, due to the barrage of Soap Opera tabloid and Internet speculation, I want to go on record to say that Drucilla would love nothing more than to claw her way up the cliff that she flipped off of, but Y&R has not sent her a rescue crew or a life line to help her out of the ravine that she’s been in for over a year. I am alive and well and the ball is in their court.

Email to Sony Pictures Television and The Young the Restless is appreciated."

Victoria Rowell: Open to The Young and the Restless Return

Though she's believed to have fallen to her death nearly a year ago, Drucilla Winters may still resurface. So believe many fans of The Young and the Restless.

While CBS refuses to comment publicly, soapcentral.com has learned that the network is actively seeking a way to bring actress Victoria Rowell back into the fold.

The portrayer of Winters, who left the show in April 2007 amid reports of hurt feelings and frustration with the direction of the show, states that she is "open" to a possible The Young and the Restless return.

"Before Christmas, through my representative, there was a dialogue with the CBS brass regarding [the] re-entry of Drucilla Winters," Rowell said. "The ball is in The Young and the Restless court. I think it's important that the fans know that I'm open to coming back and now we're waiting for an answer. That's absolutely the case."

Victoria Rowell Blasts The Young and the Restless

Victoria Rowell did not leave The Young and the Restless on very good terms. Below, she discusses the show with TV Guide Canada.

victoriarowell1492.jpg TV Guide: Have you watched The Young and the Restless since you left? Are you watching the show? Would you go back; and have they even asked you back?
VR: Let’s put it this way: I was told by a friend on-set that I’d have to be voted back in! How’s that for an exclusive? I found it ghastly, to be honest. By the way, I loved Jack Smith’s writing! Smith’s show was clearly an extension of Bell’s show and legacy.

TV Guide: What do you think The Young and the Restless' creator, the late, great William Bell, who created Drucilla, would think of the state of The Young and the Restless these days now that it’s run by fear and committee?
VR: I think what made William Bell such an extraordinary and unique writer is that he embraced the natural, raw gift that an actor brought to the table.

He was masterful at extracting the natural nuance of the character and actor at the same time. What do I think he would think of the show right now? I haven’t watched The Young and the Restless since I left because I’ve been on the road on a book tour for 200 days.

TV Guide: Currently, Drucilla is being mentioned on the show: Neil is dating Karen, played by Nia Peeples, and LML (Latham) is teasing viewers with passive aggressive insinuations that somehow Drucilla is haunting the relationship or she is, at the very least, somehow related to Karen. It feels rather manipulative and mean to me since you’re not coming back to the show.

It’s like they’re just teasing us and capitalizing on your popularity just because they can. LML is pouring salt on our wounds.
VR: I heard Nia was on the show, yes, but I can’t comment because I haven’t seen any of it.

TV Guide: So the big question: would you consider coming back to the show in the future?
VR: Clearly, I needed to take a break because the show wasn’t making sense. But I must say, for the first time in my career, I’ve been on the road with Y&R fans all over North America and I can’t tell you how wonderful and educational it’s been to interface with the viewers, who have watched me for twenty years in prime time, daytime and film.

To look people in the eyes and hear what they really think [and not through focus groups]. I never said never about daytime. It’s a medium that has been loyal to me. I’m coming to the end of the book tour and as I said, a little birdie told me that I had to be voted back on the show, which I will say is stunning.

Fan Speaks on Meeting Victoria Rowell

Victoria Rowell Photo Daytime actress Victoria Rowell is in the middle of a national book tour.

A fan of this The Young and the Restless star contacted Soaps.com recently and relayed details on her meeting with Rowell. Here's that excerpt:

“Victoria was so sweet and kind and just plain down to earth. She is much smaller and delicate in person than she looks on TV and very soft-spoken.

She told the audience that she chose to come to the Madame Walker Theater due to its rich African-American History. While Victoria Rowell was in Indy previously she stumbled across this theatre and was told of its historical significance.

She felt as though it was fate and said that she became intrigued by Madame Walker and started doing more research. She said she is currently writing a screenplay and hopes to turn it into a movie. This information was shared with us in Indianapolis since the Madame Walker theatre is where she appeared. I thought this was very interesting too.”
