The Young and the Restless Spoilers for 2008

Forget the next couple episodes. Here's a look at what you can look forward to on The Young and the Restless early next year...

youngrestlesslogo.jpg Victor and Nikki: Is it Really Over?
Although they are on the outs when it comes to their marriage, don't count these two out. They are still deeply in love with each other. Victor may not be so willing to let Nikki go to another man (David, in this case). Could this couple be on improved terms in the new year?

Phyllis and Nick: Where does her heart really lie?
Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) will let her guilty conscious get the better of her as she tries to stand by Jack during his time of need. Nick will not be at all pleased with her sudden need to lend support to the manipulative Abbott. There are a lot of unexpected things to come to light and the outcome will not only affect Jack, Phyllis and Nick, as other characters could come into play.

Whos' Baby Is It?
Brad and JT (Thad Luckinbill) will continue their power struggle over Victoria's baby. As the baby struggles to survive, Brad and JT will soon find themselves on an emotional rollercoaster. Once the paternity is revealed, the non-father will struggle big time.

Lily and Cane
Lily and Cane (Daniel Goddard) will continue to go closer to one another. But there are several people who do not want this relationship to take place. One of the main people who want the relationship to sink before it even begins? Amber.

The Young and the Restless Writers to Remain Loyal

young-logo.jpg A recent article in Variety hinted that writers from The Young and the Restless were contemplating a crossing of the picket lines.

Now, though, the staff of the show has released a statement that shoots this rumor down.

“As the writing staff of The Young and the Restless gathered to share pizza together -- something we have vowed to do weekly until the strike ends -- we were incensed to read the incorrect information printed in Variety that several writers on our show sought financial core status,” the statement read.

So while the writers would love to address soap fans that are dying to find out if Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) will prove that Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) is a killer, the strikers are not going to because they aren't presently working.

"Our entire writing staff of 18 is united and we fully support our union. Not a single person who was writing for Y&R when we struck has gone core. Not one. We stand united with sore feet from picketing. Well, some of us sit. But we all do our part, and we cannot be parted,” the statement continued.

The Young and the Restless Boss: On the Way Out?

800010502_220_cache.png TV Guide's Michael Logan is hoping the writers' strike is good for The Young and the Restless.

How come? Because rumors have it that executive producer/head writer Lynn Marie Latham (pictured) - who Logan says "has nearly ruined the once-glorious soap" - will not return, no matter when and how the walkout ends.

When contacted, a representative for the CBS soap opera hemmed and hawed, but didn't deny Latham's ousting or reports that Sony programming VP Steve Kent has now taken command. Kent was supervising producer of Santa Barbara, arguably the best daytime drama ever.
