Pat Benatar Speaks on The Young and the Restless Experience

As previously reported, music icon Pat Benatar will be heading to Genoa City to perform at Neil Winters' (Kristoff St. John) jazz club later this month. The 55-year-old singer will be joined on The Young and the Restless by husband Neil “Spyder” Giraldo, who also serves as her lead guitarist.

benatar-singing.jpgThe couple stopped by the soap opera's California studios on January 24 to tape two episodes. Despite not following the series closely, the two told Soap Opera Digest they're excited to guest star on the “number-one rated daytime show.”

“It was great.  Everyone was terrific.  They're so sweet, helpful and kind,” Benatar said of The Young and the Restless cast and crew, while Giraldo added that "it should always be this easy.”

Benatar and Giraldo will appear as themselves on a pair of episodes, airing on February 14 and February 15. In the story line, Neil surprises his girlfriend Karen Taylor (Nia Peeples) with the longtime couple.  They'll be performing “Every Time I Fall Back."

While both musicians enjoyed their experience on the drama, neither is keen on pursuing acting.

“No.  I have to tell you, it's a lot harder than it looks,” Benatar said when asked if she'd like to do more acting projects in the future.

More on the Return of Victor Newman, Jr. to The Young and the Restless

Chris Engen PhotoAfter a nearly decade-long absence from The Young and the Restless, Victor Newman, Jr., is returning to Genoa City.

Talk of the character's return have been buzzing around the Web for awhile now, but the CBS soap opera is finally confirming the news, announcing that Chris Engen has earned the role.

Of course, viewers will need to suspend disbelief when Victor Jr. finally does return to the screen. Here's why: When last seen on-screen in 1998, Victor Jr. was a pre-schooler played by Hayden Tank.

Last year, however, the character was "aged" off-screen as a device to usher Victor out of the show's storylines for several weeks. The exit was necessary to allow actor Eric Braeden (Victor Newman) to have some time off from The Young and the Restless in order to film a movie.

During that time, Victor Jr. was said to be in trouble somewhere in the South Pacific.

This time around, Engen - and, therefore, the character - are 27-year old. Quick math, of course, states that the character should only be nearing high school age in the real world. However, the writers' decision last year to fudge Victor Jr.'s age now allows them to explore alternate story lines.
