Christel Khalil Dishes on The Young and the Restless Story Line

Jabot's hottest young model is pregnant on The Young and the Restless, but her biggest problem next week - as detailed in The New York Daily News - will be telling her dad.

"Lily is in L.A. doing a photo shoot and she calls him," says Christel Khalil, who plays the expectant Lily. "She says, 'Can we meet for dinner?' Then she says, 'Oh, no. Let's have lunch,' because she can't wait any longer. They go to the G.C.A.C. and she tells him."

Daddy's reaction?

"He's shocked," says Khalil. "He's like, 'Oh my gosh. My baby girl is pregnant.' He's not angry. Just extremely disappointed."

Trace Adkins to Guest Star on The Young and the Restless

Country music singer Trace Adkins will guest star on the May 2 episode of The Young and the Restless.

We'd love to see him in some sort of sing off competition with future One Life to Live guest star, Snoop Dogg. Just a suggestion.

Kate Linder Prepares for Walk of Fame

As the Daily News in Los Angeles reports Kate Linder is the only active flight attendant for a major airline who is receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Linder, who plays Esther Valentine on The Young and the Restless, never quit her day job after being cast on the soap opera 26 years ago this week.

"In the beginning, I didn't know what was gonna happen so I didn't tell anyone at the show that I was a flight attendant because I thought they might not take me seriously as an actress," the actress said.

Linder currently works for United Airlines, havings been a flight attendant for nearly 30 years.

"I do the show during the week and fly on weekends," she said, adding that she's excited for her costars to be on Hollywood Boulevard on Thursday when Kate's star is unveiled across the street from the Roosevelt Hotel.

"I love the people that I work with," Linder said. "I love the show and I love the role. It was only supposed to be for one day." It seems once Kate gets a job, she does like to keep it!

Jerry Douglas Returns to The Young and the Restless

Technically, Jerry Douglas has never left The Young and the Restless.

Sure, his character of died in August of 2006, but he's resurfaced since during ghostly visits to his son Jack (Peter Bergman). Still, this use of Douglas didn't quite fill the void for many fans of the show.

Jerry Douglas PicTherefore, the powers that be have decided to remedy the situation and introduce look-a-like Alistair Wallingford. Here's an interview with Douglas, as the veteran actor discusses how this unique return came about...

How did this "new" role come about?
I got a call from Karen [Rea], the casting director, and she told me how much she has enjoyed the ghost storyline over the last few months. Karen called me and said they wanted to talk to me about a new character and didn't say too much other than Maria [Bell] created it. She set up a meeting for me to sit down with them and find out what they had in mind.

I am very fond of Maria. I really like her as a person. She is very devoted to certain charities and my wife Kym has attended many events with Maria. She has always been very sweet to my wife. She is a very genuine person.

A couple of days later, I went to see them and they proceeded to tell me all about Alistair Wallingford, a drunken old actor. We decided how to disguise him a bit from my look. We talked about a beard and putting a hat on. We talked about him having a Scottish accent the first couple of days to make him even more grotesque to Jack and Sharon. My first scene was March 18, brief but hysterical. I walk in and they practically faint because he looks like a stumble bum actor.

Describe his character.
He is a devoted stage artist in his own mind. Many of the stage actors that I grew up around in New York as young actor who were devoted to the classics like Shakespeare didn't really have a great awareness of film and television. Today things are different, your exposure is so much greater with the Internet and so forth. But back then, the world was your stage and he is very theatrical. He has no qualms about telling you how great he is. And he is very charming!

Now that I have portrayed him for a few weeks, I think he is genuinely a good person with a good heart. He is a bit of a lost soul. He has no roots. A kind of wandering minstrel from theater to theater for most of his life but he loves the stage and he loves performing. I find him fascinating."

Whom has Alistair interacted with so far?
Jack and Sharon in the beginning and a little bit with Jeff. Ted Shackelford was very, very funny. We were both laughing after we finished our scenes. I worked with Katherine and Jill. Jess and Jeanne and I go way back so it was really fun to work with them. I just finished some scenes with Gloria and Alistair. He falls in love with Gloria when he sees her. He is really taken with her.

Jill wants him to find someone else but he is really taken with Gloria. He charms her, warms up to her. He is still very theatrical but he is more down to earth with her than anyone else that he has met.

However, things are far from perfect for this well-known character Genoa City resident.

"What about "all the scary stuff that's been happening to her," wondered Chapman.

How true. Guess we'll have to tune in and find out.

Eric Braeden Almost Quit The Young and the Restless

Old and RestlessIn a stunning revelation, Eric Braeden recently admitted that he almost quit The Young and the Restless last year.

According to Soap Central, Braeden was not only disgusted with the direction of his character's storyline, but he was also unhappy with the situations of the other veteran characters. The actor sat down with then-executive producer Lynn Marie Latham to discuss the problems, but was frustrated by what he viewed as a lack of reciprocal concern.

This 2007 meeting came just after Latham had hired a brand new team of writers, some of whom had no previous experience in the soap genre.

During this regime's reign, Braeden said he felt that Victor Newman had become a weak and diminished character, forced to sit on the sidelines while an array of "new, younger characters" took over.

"I will always rail against this chasing of the mythical, young demographic, (that) leads to the dumbing down of television," Braeden said. "It's the bane of a lot of writers, directors and actors in this town."

Fortunately, The Young and the Restless recently elevated Maria Arena Bell, daughter-in-law of series co-creators Lee Phillip Bell and her late husband William, to the head writer position. Braeden couldn't be happier with the change.

"This is the happiest I've been on the show in a long time," he said. "The emphasis is again where it belongs, with the established characters on the show."

Michael Damian Speaks on Return to The Young and the Restless

Michael Damian PhotoDanny Romalotti - and his portrayer, actor Michael Damian - have returned to The Young and the Restless.

Damian recently took a few moments to reflect on a few behind the scene reunions and share what he's been up to since his last trip to Genoa City. Here's what he had to say:

How did your latest stint on The Young and the Restless come about?
"I got a call from the show. They asked if I was A) in town B) available and C) did I want to Rock and Roll Genoa City with a couple of songs. Did I want to come back for a weeklong celebration for the 35th Anniversary of the show? And I said 'Sounds like fun! I'm in."

What do you remember the most about your first day on the set way back when you first came on as Danny Romalotti?
"You're not talking about 1981, are you? Way back many centuries ago before the bible began [he laughed]. That's a quote from Joseph [and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat], by the way. My first show was with Doug Davidson [Paul]. I got a job as waiter-slash-busboy at Jonas' and Paul Williams worked there. We had a great time, became great friends. It was awesome. David Hasselhoff [Snapper] was on the show back then. David was always nice to me.

Doug and I just finished our scene together and we were just reminiscing about how much fun we had back then. Danny and Paul go back a long, long way and it is kind of sad that their friendship drifted over the whole Christine [Lauralee Bell] thing but I am very happy with how the characters have evolved now and it was a lot of fun to have them hang out. It is addressed in the script so that is good."

What is it about Danny that makes him a fan favorite?
"He's 80's hair and spandex. I think that is what did it [laughing]. The writing was just superb. The character is only as good as he is written. Bill Bell had a brilliant mind and did an awesome job. I am so sorry we had to lose him so early. He was a father figure. We always felt that he was looking after us. What I really am thrilled about is coming back in 2008 and finding the writing is still great.

There is freshness, depth, comedy and it is very layered. I don't know about all the other characters but certainly in the scenes that I have played out with Doug Davidson and Michelle Stafford [Phyllis]."

Did you interact with any of the new characters?

"I had a brief encounter with 2 new characters, Daniel's friend Amber [Adrienne Frantz] and Paul's daughter Heather [Vail Bloom]. That was fun. I had a chance to work with Josh Morrow (Nick) which is rare for me. We put our two heads together trying to remember if we had a scene together. That was a lot of fun. I enjoyed working with Bronson Pinchot. He was fantastic!

Very creative, which is fun as an actor and it keeps you on your toes. Yeah, I have been making the rounds the last couple of days. It is always nice working with Michelle, as always."
