TV Guide Canada caught up with new The Bold and the Beautiful star, Texas Battle, on the red carpet prior to last week's Daytime Emmy Awards.

The actor said, "I have to admit when I found out Jennifer was my mom, it did blow my mind. But this is a soap."

TV Guide: You’re a horror film prince — how does the soap world compare or contrast?
Texas Battle: Oh God, the scripts are the biggest challenge. We have so many lines to learn and we shoot a show in one day, sometimes two episodes in one day! In film we have more time, and more rehearsal. But B&B is a fun show.

TV Guide: Well, it’s certainly nice to see some colour on the soap — and he’s a Logan to boot!
Texas Battle: I know — Can a brother get some love, man? Don’t be surprised if we get more black characters on [The Bold and the Beautiful].

As the latest cast member on The Bold and the Beautiful, Texas Battle recently talked about what it's been like to join such a long-running drama.

On winning the part on The Bold and the Beautiful: My agent told me there was a part [being cast] on The Bold and the Beautiful. We had no idea what it was, but I was excited because my Mom watches The Bold and the Beautiful and I knew that it was not only one of the top shows in America, but #1 worldwide. I met with the casting director. [She] had me read a scene from a previous episode.

Texas Battle now stars on The Bold and the Beautiful.

The character was a guy named Brandon. Then I came back and met with [headwriter and Executive Producer] Brad Bell and [Supervising Producer] Rhonda Friedman. That was when I found out that I was going to play a son looking for his mother. I was very excited that The Bold and the Beautiful was developing a storyline for an African-American character.

At the screen test I met Jennifer Gareis [Donna.] I was surprised because I had assumed that [Marcus’s] Mom would be African-American. I was like, you mean this beautiful blue eyed blonde is going to be my Mom?! I knew that this storyline was going to be a trip. Let the drama begin!
