On Sunday, Days of Our Lives stud Shawn Christian took part in a meet-and-greet event at the Eastwood Mall in Niles, Ohio.
Christian - who has played Dr. Daniel Jonas since March - was not lacking for fans. Hundreds of people stood in line to get autographs and have their pictures taken with the actor.
Shawn Christian, or at least his character, faces a major dilemma on Days of Our Lives:
He's interested in a future with young Chelsea, while having shared a mysterious past with her sexy grandmother, Kate. As the actor recently told Soap Opera Digest, though, he loves being at the center of this controversial story line.
Soap Opera Weekly: The show is being so mysterious about Daniel and Kate. What is going on between them?
Shawn Christian: There's definitely something bubbling beneath the surface.
Weekly: How long has this "bubbling" been going on?
Christian: That has yet to be determined. Lauren (Koslow, Kate) and I had scenes yesterday. We were trying to figure out how long, how many times, and when did this and that happen. I'm not sure if it's been clearly defined yet.
Weekly: What are your thoughts on the surprise storyline?
Christian: As an actor, you love the adventure. You want to figure out the unintended consequences of something like this happening. Daniel's felt for a while that Kate's been retreating from whatever experience they shared. She's completely closing herself off from him, probably as a means of protecting Chelsea. Daniel is perplexed, truly, and frustrated that Kate has been closing him out.

Shawn Christian isn't a doctor, but he does play one on TV.
So far, this fact hasn't landed the Wyoming native any cheesy commercials, but it has taught him a little about medical terminology and procedures. Who knows? Maybe he could pinch-hit in a medical emergency sometime, being the next best thing to a real physician.
"Now that," he said with a laugh, "would be scary."
As Dr. Daniel Jonas, the newest hottie-with-a-scalpel on Days of Our Lives, Christian plays "a highly skilled surgeon with a penchant for surfing."

Sources say the actor began taping on February 11. His first actual appearance on a new episode is unknown at this time. Previously, the actor briefly appeared on As the World Turns and One Life to Live.
