Beth Ehlers Speaks on Ricky Paull Goldin Departure

With the departure of Ricky Paull Goldin imminent, Guiding Light costar Beth Ehlers has written the following email to her fans:

Beth Ehlers ImageHello Everyone,
How can we say goodbye to Ricky Paull Goldin?? I know for all of you the idea of Guiding Light without "GUS" is unimaginable. For me the idea of "Harley" without "Gus" is unimaginable! 2008 was supposed to be the year of their reconciliation.

Ricky and I both anticipated those scenes, to finally get the opportunity to fall in love again... for all of you. Obviously, that won't happen now. And it's a tragedy. Please know that I am as saddened, as devastated as all of you. He isn't just the love of Harley's life.

He is my best friend. Please send good wishes his way! And maybe in the future, who knows . . . maybe these two people will meet again.

I can only hope . . .
All my love,
Beth Ehlers

Ricky Paull Goldin: Leaving Guiding Light

The following is a letter from Ricky Paull Goldin, who has announced his plans to leave the role of Gus Aitoro on Guiding Light.

Ricky Paull Goldin ImageTo my friends and extended family,

I want you to be one of the first to know that I'm planning on leaving Guiding Light when my contract expires in a couple of weeks. "Gus" has been a huge part of my life and I will really miss portraying him and bringing this character to life for you. My seven years on Guiding Light have been a wonderful experience.

Now it's time for a new adventure, a new chapter in my life. I will especially miss working with Beth Ehlers, since it doesn't get any better than "Gus and Harley."

Thank you! It means so much to me that you have shown your continued love and support for me and the character of "Gus."

I am sure that the powers-that-be at Guiding Light would love to hear from you as well. It is always good to let them know how you feel. That, of course, is your right.

Michael Park and Ricky Paull Goldin Sit Down with Soap Opera Digest

Soap Opera Digest recently tried to interview Michael Park.

But the As the World Turns actor insisted that good friend Ricky Paull Goldin be involved. A fun time for all ensured. Here's a snippet of what went down:

Michael Park Digest: Michael, what made you think of inviting Ricky?
Goldin: Maybe it was because I booked the place first.
Park: We blame it all on Martha Byrne [Lily, As the World Turns], right?
Goldin: Possible, yes.
Park: We'd see each other and hang out at the St. Jude's benefit, which is missed.
Goldin: Yes, yes. I always knew Michael. We kind of knew each other on the peripheral. Years ago, I walked into the benefit and he was holding court. He had a lovely suit on, he was completely covered in wine — somebody had spilled it on him — and he was performing. Remember this?
Park: Yeah, a fan dumped wine all over me.

Goldin: But he's so good onstage. Very charming. Even though everybody was talking and wasn't listening [everyone laughs]. I'm only kidding — he still kept going, like a trouper. That's what I love about him.
Park: And so that sparked it all.
Goldin: He's Michael, he was on Broadway doing Smokey Joe's Café.
Park: At the same time that you were doing Grease.
Goldin: That's right.

Park: But we work in a medium that is perfect to do a cabaret and raise a little money. My friend Ron had passed away, so I wanted to raise money for his family. It was a perfect idea at the time. But the more we talked about it, the more people Ricky invited to do the cabaret. So everyone from Guiding Light was there, and me.
Goldin: Well, they wanted to get up there.
Park: He invites people with him onstage.
Goldin: That's fun!
Park: You're a little nervous. You like to be with people and ham it up.
