On Friday night, at the Daytime Emmy Awards in Los Angeles, Ricky Paull Goldin had more to worry about than just how fashionable he looked.

After all, as The New York Daily News reports, it's awkward to dodge bosses from the show you just quit.

"There were a lot of my old producers there, so I did have to deal with certain energy fields," said Ricky Paull Goldin, who recently quit Guiding Light (where he played Gus) to join All My Children (as Tad's brother, Jake Martin). "It's like when you break up and then you run into your old girlfriend. But it was fine."

Hello people...have you been watching?! I just got finished watching the action sequences with the helicopter, I was really really impressed with what they did. This is the direction that daytime is going in. Audiences (and that includes you and me) are far more sophisticated than the days of old, so you gotta give them what they want

What an honor it was to be asked to be a part of all that.

One of the first things I wanted to do when I got to All My Children was change the carpet in my dressing room. And if you've ever dealt with any type of corporate business, you understand when I say the word, "red tape."

If I called a certain extension on a certain day at a certain time, and put in a work order, and had that improved by somebody's higher up, maybe at that point, it would be brought before the board where it would be decided upon at a later date like maybe when my contract is up, LOL.

In his latest version of Ricky's Ramblings, Ricky Paull Goldin writes about recent scenes on All My Children:

For all you ladies out there, I did my first scenes with Cameron Mathison last night. And yes he is a sweetheart and a very giving scene partner.

I want to give him a shout out, because I had all this hospital medical jargon to spew, but I f****d up a few times, thank you for putting up with my cursing in between takes!

Let me tell you something people, playing a doctor but doing it well, ain't easy. I'm actually going to silo some doctors through the ER as part of my research and due diligence on this character. One thing I can't stand is for any of that stuff to look or sound fake. My job just got ten times harder.

As loyal soap opera fans know by now, Jake Martin resurfaces on All My Children next week. He's a wounded hostage in Darfur, Sudan, now played by Ricky Paull Goldin (pictured).

"Jake is found on a dirt floor, a hostage of rebel fighters," Goldin said to The New York Daily News of his new character, who went to Africa in 2003 as a volunteer for Doctors Without Borders.

"They find out this Dr. Martin guy is funded by the high-profile Cambias Corporation, which has very deep pockets. Since they need money, they figure, 'Let's kidnap him and demand a ransom of $5 million.'"

Word gets back to Cambias honcho Zach Slater, who dispatches new head of security Aidan Devane to Africa to rescue Jake.

"The thing that's cool about Jake is, he's been in this war-torn country, so he's used to this stuff," says Goldin. "He's the type of guy who could be operating on somebody and have a bomb go off 100 feet away. He might flinch, but he'll keep working."

New All My Children star Ricky Paull Goldin has updated his personal blog. Here are excerpts from it:

Hello loved ones...it's me. Since the last time I did this, I have had a ton of interviews, lunch meetings with reporters, a couple of photoshoots, wardrobe fittings, meetings with lawyers, accountants, agents, managers, all not necessarily the most fun but definitely necessary.

Last night, which was the night before my first day at work, I went to a benefit for the Heart Share Foundation, honoring amongst others, Cameron Mathison.

I went with Jill Larson, Rebecca Budig, Alicia Minshew, and Melissa Claire Egan, Cameron, and his wife. It was the first time that I took pictures with my new television family. It was strange for me, but I don't know whether it was because of the new show, or because I've never been that comfortable with the paparazzi.

Anyway, I went because Linda Dano asked me to, and I love Linda dearly. If Linda were 5 years younger, or I were 5 years older, she would be Linda Goldin, because I adore that woman. She said the most beautiful things as she presented an award to Cameron Mathison. I also had some really good bonding time with the ladies of All My Children.

It's the news that's rocking the soap opera world:

Within a week, Ricky Paull Goldin left Guiding Light and agreed to join the cast of All My Children. Below, we've posted the actor (long!) letter to his face, courtesy of Golden's MySpace account:

Hello my faithful friends and extended family,
This is a time of great change, it feels like everything is changing, but only for the better. Last Thursday was my final episode of Guiding Light, my final scene as Gus, saying goodbye to Harley forever.

Lunchtime at CBS felt like the last supper. All of our crew, production staff, cast, and security all gathered together in the rehearsal hall to break bread and say goodbye. It is hard to believe that I won't be walking back into the Guiding Light studio or my old dressing room again, but life goes on….

I was and have been a fan of ABC Daytime Television for a very long time, they really seem to do an amazing job, and I'm thrilled at the opportunity to become a part of the ABC family. I've actually been watching all of their shows. This will be the first time that I will be re-creating a character as opposed to creating him from scratch, but I'm excited by that challenge.

I have never seen any of Jake's previous portrayers and he hasn't been on the canvas for over half a decade, so in actuality, the only thing that I will be working with that I'm not used to…is his onscreen history created by others before me. It'll be my job to erase all those memories and "de"construct him in my own image. If that was hard to follow, what I'm saying is…he won't be like any Jake Martin you've known before.

But I can't and I don't want to do it without YOU. I don't want to go to Pine Valley by myself. I want to take you all with me. It'll be like a road trip, it'll be like us all jumping on a bus together or a ship, I just want us all to take the journey together. So I'm going to ask that you search within yourself, and start watching All My Children, so you can learn the history.

Ricky Paull Goldin - who just recently announced his leaving from Guiding Light when his deal runs out later this month - has been cast on All My Children in the contract role of Dr. Jake Martin.

As TV Guide reports, Jake is the younger brother of Tad. Jake's love interests have included Liza, Gillian and (of course) Greenlee (Rebecca Budig).

Goldin is expected to make his All My Children debut by the end of April.
