There are a few interesting developments next week on One Life to Live. They are...
As anyone who watched today's One Life to Live knows, Gigi was transported back to 1968. This will lead to a reunion with Rex next week.
It just sucks she finds him in bed with another woman.
"Rex is stuck in 1968 and he's being shipped off to Vietnam," John-Paul Lavoisier told The New York Daily News of his character's wacky time-travel story line. "He's not going to get back to Gigi. So he's talking to Emma, saying, 'You look just like this girl. It's almost like you are her.' And Emma goes, 'You can pretend I am her tonight.'"
Meanwhile, Gigi is trying to figure out how to get back to 1968 to find him.
"Gigi meets up with Delphina, who explains that Gigi has to get struck by lightning in the same spot that Bo and Rex did . She makes it. Rex is there, but he doesn't see her. He's freaking out that it didn't work, and the camera pans down. You see Gigi unconscious under a tree."
Sounds intriguing. Sounds like we'll be watching One Life to Live next week!
During a recent interview with TV Guide Canada, Michael Easton spoke at length about his character on One Life to Live. Here are a couple highlights:
TV Guide: Are you happy that John’s lighter side is being explored through his romance with Blair? I loved the scene when Blair asked John if he owned anything that wasn’t black.
Michael Easton: Yes, I am! I’ve always tried to bring out John’s comedic side but the majority of the time it would have been inappropriate. I think comedy is important in daytime. I’ve been fortunate in my career to work opposite very funny actors. For instance, on Days of our Lives, I worked with Robert Mailhouse [ex-Brian] and Matthew Ashford [ex-Jack]. And of course, Tuc Watkins [ex-David] here on One Life to Live. Blair, David, and Todd are the perfect characters to help bring John out of his shell, so that’s why we’re seeing more life in John.
John McBain shows his compassionate side.
TV Guide: John’s a very rare and unique breed of soap character. I hate when soap characters aren’t affected by the death of a loved one. When John’s lover Caitlin was murdered, it threw him — and rightfully so — off his axis. Usually in the soap world, characters mourn for a few scenes and then move on.
Michael Easton: Which is why John was unlikable for a while. I give the audience a lot of credit though for hanging in there and giving him a chance. Slowly people are warming up to him, and John’s [experiencing a rebirth of sorts now].

Soap Opera Digest is reporting that Emmy-winning daytime vet A Martinez (formerly Roy on General Hospital) is returning to daytime in the new role of Ray Montez on One Life to Live.
Martinez won three ALMA Awards for his work on General Hospital. He also won an Emmy as Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series in 1990 for his most memorable role, as Cruz Castillo on Santa Barbara.

Kamar de Los Reyes has been on One Life To Live for almost 12 years.
The actor recently said he was thrilled to arrive in the imaginary town of Llanville more than a decade ago.
"I became a part of the first _ of one of the only Latino families on daytime television, on all of network television... And I'm not talking about just Latino families portrayed in sitcoms. I'm talking about a real Latino, a real Puerto Rican family who dealt with real-life issues.
I was extremely and continue to be extremely proud of that. I always felt extremely lucky and blessed and to this day am very grateful for that opportunity as a Latino, considering, you know, one tenth of a percent of Latino actors get that opportunity. And I was one of them."

Move over, General Hospital: Nightshift!
SoapNet is making plans to spin-off nighttime versions of One Life To Live and, possibly, The Young and The Restless.
ABC Daytime President Brian Frons told reporters at a One Life To Live press conference this week that he and the network have been in talks to develop a primetime spin-off for the series.
Nothing firm has been settled, but rumored ideas include taking police detective John McBain (Michael Easton) and following him on a case. Sounds pretty cool, no?
SoapNet is also considering the idea of spin-off characters from The Young and The Restless, though no ground work for that has been laid yet. We'll have more news on this possibility as it breaks.
