Natalia Livingston: Back on General Hospital!

Natalia Livingston, General Hospital

Natalia Livingston is back on General Hospital, even if she is most definitely not playing Emily.

In this interview the actress behind Rebecca dishes to Soap Opera Weekly about what lured her back to daytime.

Why come back now?

Well, what lured me back was [head writer Robert Guza Jr. and executive producer Jill Farren Phelps] and a great storyline idea. Also, remembering the five years I had on the show previously, and how much I loved it.

What kind of feedback are you hearing from the fans so far?
Some fans have sent me messages saying that they really love Rebecca, that it's sort of a dream role for me; it's something really fun and different. They're really happy that I get to play that. It's been really good and positive.

Natalia Livingston Previews Return to General Hospital

On tomorrow afternoon's General Hospital viewers — and eventually Nikolas — will be treated to a shock when the late Emily Quartermaine appears to rise from the dead.

The truth is, of course, is that Natalia Livingston is back on the drama in a new role: a mysterious young woman named Rebecca.

The actress recently previewed the part with TV Guide:

TVGuide.com: Was this comeback plan in mind when you left?
Livingston: I knew that there was a possibility for a comeback, yeah. We ended up waiting a few months, then I got a call from Bob Guza and [acting director] Mark Teschner in November: "We've got this storyline ready — what are you thinking?" I thought, "Wow, it's just such an incredible opportunity."

TVGuide.com: What did you think about when making the decision to return?
Livingston: What was really important to me was remembering my five years on the show and how happy I was. I know that this is a group of people I love to work with, that it's a job I know I love. Second to that, I thought this would be challenging because it's a new character. It's not a recast, like when I stepped into Amber Tamblyn's shoes [as Emily]. This is a chance to have something new and my own.

Natalia Livingston Dishes on New General Hospital Character

Natalia Livingston is coming back to General Hospital.

In an interview with The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the actress talks about her new character of Rebecca.

"She goes against the grain. With her, if I don't feel like smiling, I don't have to."

During the discussion, Livingston discussed how different this character is from Emily Bowen-Quartermaine, the role she portrayed on the ABC drama from April 2003 through May 2008. Emily was killed off in November 2007.

"She works at the hospital," Livingston said. "She's going to come in and shake things up. It'll be interesting to see how the characters react to her."

Natalia Livingston: Remaining on General Hospital

Rest easy, General Hospital fans: Natalia Livingston isn't going anywhere, despite a few recent rumor to the contrary.

Natalia Livingston"[General Hospital] and I started contract negotiations several months ago... Both wanting to work something out. We have finally come to a deal where both sides are happy," Livingston said in a statement. "With that said, I am, have been, and will always be incredibly grateful to General Hospital for giving me such a wonderful job. I love and treasure every day on the show."

The rumors of Livington's departure spread after a General Hospital fan club member actually stated online that she was exiting the series.

But Livingston said the statements made about her supposed departure were not only inaccurate, but fraudulent as well.

"I have no doubt that my fans, friends and family at General Hospital will easily distinguish between fact and fiction, reject sensationalist headlines, Internet blogsites, and know that if a statement didn't sounds like something I would say I simply did not say it," the 31-year-old actress said.
