You might not know it to look at her, but Days of Our Lives star Lauren Koslow is an organic crop farmer.

She talks about the unusual hobby in an interview with Soap Opera Weekly...

Soap Opera Weekly: How did this business come about?
Lauren Koslow: We bought property years ago, 20 acres, because we were into horses. I did a lot of horseback riding. My daughter (Milikate) was riding competitively. We were going to build a training facility for horses. So we got the land, and where we live is an agriculture area. We had people coming to our door fairly regularly, saying, "Do you want to rent us your land for growing [crops]?" We were thinking about it. Then we decided: Why don't we give this a try? Why don't we grow, since everyone else wants to rent our land to do it?

Weekly: Do you have any produce customers at the Days of Our Lives studio?
Koslow: Actually, I do. James Scott (EJ) is one of my customers. He takes a weekly box of vegetables. He was right on top of it. I brought some in, and he was like, "I'll do this." I have a few other potential customers.

Previous soap opera roles for Lauren Koslow have included The Young and the Restless (Lindsey, 1984-86) and The Bold and the Beautiful (Margo, 1987-92).

Currently, Koslow stars on Days of Our Lives as the character of Kate Roberts. Here are a few other facts about the actress:

As reported earlier, Lauren Koslow is remaining on Days of Our Lives. In case you somehow didn't believe us, however, here's the actress herself on her show status:

"Not only am I staying," she explained, "but I've heard a little bit about a story [for Kate] that's coming up."

Koslow has portrayed Kate Roberts on Days of Our Livessince 1996. Her previous daytime roles include The Young and the Restless' Lindsay Wells Abbott (1984 to 1986), and designer Margo Lynley on The Bold and the Beautiful (1997 to 2002).

Soap Opera Digest is reporting that Lauren Koslow, (Kate, Days of Our Lives) is staying in Salem. Internet rumors had claimed the actress was the latest in the recent string of firings on NBC's only soap opera.

“The internet rumors regarding Lauren Koslow being let go are simply not true," said a show spokesperson.
