A Guiding Light Question and Answer

We're always encouraging readers to write in, leave comments or ask questions.

With that in mind, here's the response to a pressing Guiding Light inquiry:

Q: Who are the fathers of Harley's children?
A: Harley's three children have three different fathers. She conceived daughter Susan (who now goes by the name Daisy) with then-boyfriend Dylan Lewis while still a teenager, but Harley gave the baby up for adoption to the Lemay family.

Sh's since moved back in with Harley. Harley's ex-husband Phillip Spaulding is son Zach's (full name Alan Cooper Spaulding) dad, while son Jude is the product of Harley's one-night stand with Phillip's best friend Rick Bauer.

After Remy beat him within an inch of his life, "G" was exiled back to Australia. The returning character will immediately cause trouble for Daisy and, according to gossip, he may be related to Cyrus in some way.

Kim Zimmer Loks Ahead on Guiding Light

In her typical forward fashion, Guiding Light heroine Reva proposes to Jeffrey next week.

"They have this great day moving into The Beacon, and Reva decides they need their own song," Kim Zimmer said to The New York Daily News. "They have these cute romantic scenes figuring out what their love song is."

For example, Jeffrey pulls out his guitar and they make up a song. One thing leads to another, and the duo makes love. Jeffrey wakes up to find Reva making something at the table.

The Zim

"Jeffrey has never mentioned having a problem with the heart in the mantel at Cross Creek that says 'Reva and Josh Always,'" said Zimmer. "But Reva makes Jeffrey this glitter heart that says 'R.S. Loves J.O.' and on the side it says 'W.T.H.?'"

That stands for "What the hell?," which is the couple's mantra.

Guiding Light Writer Speaks on Year of Change

SOAPnet recently sat down with the head writer of Guiding Light, David Kreizman (pictured). Here are highlights from the interview:

SOAPnet.com: Congrats on the Daytime Emmy nomination. What was your first reaction?
David Kreizman: I was actually surprised by the nomination this year. I didn't even know it was nomination day until I arrived at the studio that day. And we were in a meeting, so I didn't find out until a little later. Of course, it's always nice to be recognized, but it's a strange year for writers. I think we're all still healing from the strike.

SOAPnet.com: Can you sum up your thoughts on Guiding Light in 2007? It featured the 70th Anniversary episode, which fans seemed to love. Any other highs or lows that stand out?
David: It was a real transition year for us. We knew the new format was coming, so we were always working toward that. I'm very proud of the Find Your Light campaign that Ellen [Wheeler, executive producer at Guiding Ligh] started. I spent a few days in Mississippi, and it was a very emotional experience for everyone involved. I had a great time writing the anniversary episode.

I kept putting it off and then finally locked myself in a hotel room with books of Guiding Light lore to write the script. Losing Tom [Pelphrey] and Stephanie [Gatschet] was difficult, but I think we got some great story by telling the tragic end of Jonathan and Tammy.

Guiding Light: Renewed!

Television's longest-running program will live to celebrate its 72nd anniversary.

CBS announced recently that it had picked up Guiding Light for the 2009 TV season, despite the show's sagging ratings. The series, of course, debuted a new production model earlier this year, much to the chagrin of critics.

Here are a series of recently-published Guiding Light photos in honor of this announcement:
