Former General Hospital star, and recurring guest star, Genie Francis recently spoke to TV Guide about growing up in the business, among other topics.
Here are excerpts from the interview:
TVGuide.com: With that in mind, is there any advice you have for the starlets you cross paths with when you appear on General Hospital from time to time?
Francis: There's nobody who's as young as me or in the same position as I was there. My heart goes out to [Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears], who have really had childhood taken from them and probably missed important developmental steps. They have become sort of "public domain" and something to be made money on. There's no sense of self there, I'm sure of it. None of those young women value themselves as just themselves; they value themselves for their careers and the money they can make.
TVGuide.com: Does General Hospital have any current plans for you?
Francis: No. They have not contacted me. They have kept the character alive in a sort of "freeze-dried" state, so it's easy for them to either leave her there or bring her back.

Emmy Award-winner Anthony Geary (Luke, on General Hospital) has re-signed with the series he has called home on and off since 1978.
"Of course, we are thrilled," said a show spokesperson.
On last night's episode of The Bachelor, star Jason Mesnick and his aspiring suitors visited the set of General Hospital.
Once there, they ran into Bradford Anderson and Kirsten Storms, both of whom appeared in the background of this still shot from the episode (which involved the ladies playfully slapping, and kissing, Jason on set):

GClaire Coffee has confirmed a rumor rampant around the Internet: she's leaving the role of Nadine on General Hospital.
Coffee posted the following on her Official Message Board:
Hi Everyone!
It's been a while since I've stopped by... I sort of figured this was coming, but wanted to be absolutely certain until I relayed the news. I have been taken off contract, effective February 8. It's a mutual decision; I completely understand the stresses of the producers and writers and the Nadine storyline seemed to coming to a close.
I won't be exploding in a ball of hospital flames, but you probably won't see me much around the hospital, either. Tough times in the economy, Port Charles included! Jill Phelps has been incredibly supportive and I have nothing but respect and reverence for my time at GH. Thank YOU ALL for your support.

Will you miss Coffee on General Hospital?
Prepare for Nathan Parsons, General Hospital fans.
The actor will make his soap opera debut the week of January 26.
As TV Guide reports, Parsons will portray the recurring role of Ethan. He'll interact specifically with Anthony Geary (Luke), as the pair bond at an out-of-town bar.
There, a friendship slowly forms, as a Luke begrudgingly realizes that he and this youngster have more in common than he might want to think.

On tomorrow afternoon's General Hospital viewers — and eventually Nikolas — will be treated to a shock when the late Emily Quartermaine appears to rise from the dead.
The truth is, of course, is that Natalia Livingston is back on the drama in a new role: a mysterious young woman named Rebecca.
The actress recently previewed the part with TV Guide:
TVGuide.com: Was this comeback plan in mind when you left?
Livingston: I knew that there was a possibility for a comeback, yeah. We ended up waiting a few months, then I got a call from Bob Guza and [acting director] Mark Teschner in November: "We've got this storyline ready — what are you thinking?" I thought, "Wow, it's just such an incredible opportunity."
TVGuide.com: What did you think about when making the decision to return?
Livingston: What was really important to me was remembering my five years on the show and how happy I was. I know that this is a group of people I love to work with, that it's a job I know I love. Second to that, I thought this would be challenging because it's a new character. It's not a recast, like when I stepped into Amber Tamblyn's shoes [as Emily]. This is a chance to have something new and my own.
Reality TV is about to meet daytime TV.
On Monday, January 26, Jason Mesnick - pictured, star of ABC's The Bachelor - will take the remaining suitors on his show on to the Los Angeles-based set of General Hospital.
Once there, the women will be instructed in the fine art of screen kissing and enjoy the opportunity to act out their secret fantasies with Jason. Ooh. La. La!
Look for General Hospital stars Kirsten Storms (Maxie) and Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) to appear.
