General Hospital Spoilers: January 7-10

With the holidays over, you can look forward to five, fresh General Hospital episodes next week. Here's a brief look at them:

  • Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) faces the consequences of someone telling on her.
  • Jerry works overtime to keep his sinful shenanigans undercover.
  • Johnny deals with Trevor’s upstart presumptions as a provocateur/puppet master.

Rebecca Herbst Celebrates 10 Years on General Hospital

Rebecca Herbst PictureRebecca Herbst recently celebrated a decade-long run on General Hospital.

And the actress sound as satisfied and excited as ever about her work:

"It's been a really good run. I was very excited to meet that 10-year mark. [On my anniversary date] I came home to a living room full of balloons and flowers, and my children had written me cards. My husband made sure that it was celebrated," she said.

So, when the actress originated the role of Elizabeth so many years ago, did she ever foresee all the drama and turmoil that her character would go through during the years?

"I never really envisioned it because I had never watched soap operas, so I wasn't really privy to what characters go through and what they're all about," Herbst said. "My sister and I were not allowed to watch them growing up, so the drama was ... well, I knew they were dramatic, but not this dramatic."

Fans of General Hospital have been lucky to watch such a talented performer add to that drama for over a decade now.

General Hospital Spoilers: Alexis and Diane in a Biker Bar

Nancy GrahnNext week on General Hospital, Alexis and Diane are nominated for the "Litigator of the Year" award, leading to a raucous trip to Philadelphia - and, of course, a side trip to a biker bar.

"This award is obviously something that Alexis has fantasized about her whole life, career-wise," said Nancy Grahn (pictured), who plays Alexis. "She gets on the plane and naturally, in soap land, she's sitting right next to Diane."

The two proceed to argue over their respective clients, Kate and Sonny.

"They end up sitting on the tarmac for two hours," says Grahn. "Diane's being annoying, but you also see that they're kind of friends. As women, they get each other. The argument gets worse and all hell breaks loose. They get thrown off the plane."

Ever resourceful, "they get in the car and drive," Grahn continues. "Diane drives like a maniac and they're fighting in the car. Alexis is such a nerd, going, 'Would you please slow down?' It's like they're married.

"Then you see Alexis driving with her glasses really slowly and carefully. They get a flat and Alexis has to change a tire, which is hilarious because I really had to do it and I haven't a clue what a jack is. Then Diane pushes Alexis and she pushes back and we just started doing shtick. We were hitting each other like girls."

Jackie Zeman Downgraded on General Hospital

After 33 years with ABC, Jackie Zeman (Bobbie Spencer) has been downgraded to recurring status on General Hospital. The change became effective this month.

Jackie Zeman

The move didn't come as a shock to the veteran, respected actress, as the series has been lacking a steady role for her for awhile now.

"It's been a great ride," Zeman recently said. "I've been on General Hospital for 30 years. I am so thankful and I am such a lucky girl. If there's story for me, there's story. If there's not… then there's no story. If the audience didn't want me then I wouldn't still be there [on the show.]"

Details Emerge on Kristina Wagner's Return to General Hospital

800011017_220_cache.png When Kristina Wagner returns to General Hospital on December 20, it won't exactly be a happy homecoming.

Her character, Felicia, is back for the funeral of her teen daughter Georgie (Lindze Letherman), the latest victim of the Text Message Killer.

"It's just so sad," Wagner said to TV Guide about the event. "On my first day back, I cried through 13 scenes and left feeling pretty blue."

Last seen two years ago, Felicia has been away on the flimsiest of excuses (a sick aunt in Texas), and her other daughter, Maxie (Kirsten Storms), is furious about it.

"Maxie tears into Felicia during the eulogy and puts her down for not being present and available," Wagner said. "Felicia runs out of the funeral, and to honor Maxie's feelings, she doesn't even go to the burial. Later, she rushes to Georgie's grave for a few moments, hoping Maxie doesn't see her. It's a terrible way to say goodbye."
