On General Hospital, Carly Meets Carly!

Laura Wright PicLater today on General Hospital, Carly crosses paths with female mobster Claudia Zacchara. Why does this make for a fun inside joke for longtime fans?

"It's really funny," Laura Wright (pictured), who plays Carly, said to The New York Daily News. "Claudia is a nice, spicy addition to the show. She could slit your throat and kiss you at the same time, which I love."

The wink to fans, of course, is that Sarah Brown (who plays Claudia), actually created the role of Carly in 1996. She played her until 2001, winning three Daytime Emmys along the way.

Wright took over the role in 2005 (jumping ship from Guiding Light to become Carly number-four) and has played it ever since.

"I have been a fan of Laura's since I was on General Hospial back in the day," said Brown. "We have a natural camaraderie together, which was kind of unexpected."

Wright has similar praise for Brown.

"We're two totally different actresses and they're two different characters," said Laura. "So I think it's going to be a blast."

Kirsten Storms: Remaining on General Hospital

The Internet has been buzzing a lot these days with rumors about Kirsten Storms.

For starters, the actress says that Days of Our Lives has not asked her to return to the role of Belle Black. As for her status on General Hospital?

"I am working a lot (with Bradford Anderson) and loving every second of it. I have NO intentions of returning to Days, nor have they asked me. I'm beyond happy in "Port Charles" and plan to stay there as long as they will let me."

More on Shell Kepler: General Hospital Star Died of Kidney Failure

shell-kepler.jpg We've received a follow-up on the passing last week of former General Hospital star Shell Kepler.

The actress, who was best for her role as Nurse Amy Vining, passed away on February 1 after being admitted to the hospital at Oregon Health & Science University on the same day. Reportedly, the 49-year-old succumbed to renal failure, during which the kidney fails to function adequately.

"She was a sweet woman with a big heart. She couldn't have been lovelier to me and was very welcoming when I joined General Hospital," said former co-star Nancy Lee Grahn.

Kepler joined General Hospital in 1979, taking over her role from Cari Ann Warder, who portrayed the character in 1975. She starred on the drama for more than two decades.

Days of Our Lives: Paging Past General Hospital Stars!

Tamara Braun PictureAs Tamara Braun (pictured) joins the cast of Days of Our Lives later this month, Soap Opera Digest notes that the actress who portrayed former mob moll Carly Corinthos on General Hospital is far from the first person to switch from the latter series to the former.

Here's a look at a few others:

Stephen Nichols
Donning an eye patch, Nichols defined a new kind of sexy when he premiered as Days of Our Lives' Steve Johnson, a wild-eyed, blue jean-clad bad boy, in 1985. Nichols played a major personality shift in 1996, when he turned up on General Hospital as stuffy Stefan Cassadine.

Mary Beth Evans
Talk about an about-face! In 1986, Evans took on the role of Days of Our Lives' girl next store Kayla Brady, the epitome of sugar & spice and everything nice. Fans were shocked when she turned up on General Hospital in 1993 as manipulative Katherine Bell, who had an affair with a younger man, Nikolas!

However, fans took solace in the fact that she was eventually united with Stefan, portrayed by her former Days of Our Lives' soul mate, Stephen Nichols.

"There was nothing wrong with leaving daytime and there's nothing wrong with coming back," said Braun, who played Carly on General Hospital from 2001-05 and joins Days of Our Lives as Ava, a mystery woman from Steve's past, on February 8. The February 12 issue of Soap Opera Digest has a report from her first day on set.

General Hospital Rumors, Spoilers: Sam Fingers Elizabeth

Here are a few General Hospital rumors for upcoming episodes:

Could Sam's accident affect the custody situation? Maybe. There are some rumors that Sam will finger Elizabeth as the one who hit her (even though Sam really has no idea who was behind the wheel). Sources go on to state that Elizabeth might end up arrested, with Lucky being awarded custody of Cameron and Jake.

So, the big question would be: Is Sam acting out of revenge when she says Liz hit her?
