Matt Borlenghi is the new mayor of Salem.
Long known as Brian Bodine on All My Children, the actor went on to portray Ziggy Deadmarsh on The Bold and the Beautiful. He'll begin his stint on Days of Our Lives some time this fall.
As usual, it looks to be a fun-filled week ahead on Days of Our Lives. Here's a look at what you can expect to see...
Ed Scott, who wrote for the top-rated soap The Young and the Restless before coming to Days of Our Lives, was fired on August 15 and replaced by former One Life to Live exec producer Gary Tomlin.
Here's Scott's reaction to the decision, as spoken to TV Guide:
TVGuide.com: So what the heck happened?
Scott: You know what? I'm not sure. But when I'm out, I'm out. If someone tells me they want a change, I'm not the type to sit there and argue or ask questions.
TVGuide.com: What about the charges that you were at odds with Dena Higley, and that you were rewriting her scripts to the extent that she took her grievance to the Writers Guild of America?
Scott: That is nonsense, a bunch of blown-up nothing. I gave notes on Dena's outlines. That's it. Take 'em or don't take 'em. That's what producer-writer meetings are about. You haggle about things, you suggest stuff, but always in the end, you let the writer do what the writer wants to do. There were never any screaming matches. Daytime drama is all about passion and purpose — there will always be disagreements. I love Days and all the people there. It was a wonderful place to work and a wonderful company — there's nobody there who doesn't want that show to succeed. The cast is always ready to work. There is no one big star, no divas.
TVGuide.com: Were you a sacrificial lamb here? I'm hearing there's more to this story — that Sony, which distributes Days, wants greater creative involvement and that your ouster was part of that.
Scott: I'm not going to comment. You will have to do your own research on that. On one hand, I want to know what's really behind all this. On the other hand, I'll never know, so why get worked up over it? I'm getting old enough! I'm going to move on.
Roscoe Born is leaving Days of Our Lives this fall. The actor joined the series in May of this year as Trent Robbins.
A show spokeswoman confirmed the actors departure and told Soap Opera Network that "Roscoe will continue to have story well into the end of September." We'll let you know when his final air date is announced.
Eve Plumb, who is best known for playing middle sister Jan on The Brady Bunch, will appear on the August 29 episode of Days of Our Lives.
The actress will portray Dora, a woman on the verge of a nervous breakdown who seeks counseling from Marlena. Plumb took on the role of June on All My Children in 2003.
Ed Scott has been relieved of his co-executive producer title at Days of Our Lives.
He will be replaced by Gary Tomlin, whose long list of soap credits includes Sunset Beach. The decision comes close on the heels of reported tension between Scott and Head Writer Dena Higley, along with rumors of Scott allowing actors to change scripts.
"Ed seemed fine at work on Friday," a source told Soap Opera Digest. "It had to come as a big surprise to him."

Jay Kenneth Johnson has been back on Days of Our Lives for over a year now.
Still, it's worth listening to what the actor had to say during an interview that followed his return.
When Philip first came back, there seemed to be much more of a dark side to him.
Jay Kenneth Johnson: In retrospect, I probably would've added a few more layers, but I was playing it as writ and I had a great time doing it. But I've said before I was going a hundred miles an hour every single day. That's still there, but I think Belle definitely brings out the softer side in him. I like the happy medium in between the two.
How has Philip changed since you were here before?
Jay Kenneth Johnson: I think he's grown up into more of a man. I think he's still got a lot of growing up to do. For lack of a better phrase, I think he was kind of a pushover. He was just getting walked on by Chloe and whomever else. I think that it was written that way but in all writing you have to find different layers and add that in yourself. Philip's changed and I've changed a lot as an actor. I might play that completely different now.
This week on Days of Our Lives, John goes back to his old ways when he saves Marlena.
"John checks her vitals, sees the syringes and notices the puncture in Marlena's neck. He knows whatever has befallen Marlena is exactly what she did to Stefano," actor Drake Hogestyn (pictured) told Soap Opera Digest.
