Shirley Jones has never been on a soap opera before.
Therefore, the veteran actress recently explained how different her stint on Days of Our Lives has been compared to other roles she's enjoyed.
"I had never done six shows in six days, which is how they do it as you well know, Jones told Soapdom.com. And, I had page after page, after page of dialogue to memorize, as well as an Irish brogue. So it was not easy. But I ended up loving it, had a great time with everybody, and they couldnt be more helpful. I had a good time.

Soap Opera Digest is reporting that Lauren Koslow, (Kate, Days of Our Lives) is staying in Salem. Internet rumors had claimed the actress was the latest in the recent string of firings on NBC's only soap opera.
The internet rumors regarding Lauren Koslow being let go are simply not true," said a show spokesperson.
Coming up during this spring's Sweeps period on Days of Our Lives...
Four top characters Philip, Shawn, Chloe and Belle will hop a private jet to Ireland to find Belle's kidnapped daughter. And go figure: Philip adds to the stress on board by demanding Belle choose once and for all between Shawn and him.
"Could there be worse timing?" Martha Madison says, with a laugh. The actress, who plays the freaked-out mom, promises a "huge reveal in Ireland that will tie up over 20 years of story and explain why the DiMeras have such a vendetta against the Bradys."
Also, we finally learn the true identity of Belle's father, John Black (Drake Hogestyn).
"It'll change everything in a big way," Madison teases. "Belle's gonna be a DiMera! Who'da thought?"

A hot rumor making the rounds at Days of Our Lives is that the show hopes to woo back Jason Cook and Kirsten Storms (pictured below) to portray Shawn and Belle again. What do you think of that idea?

In a follow-up to yesterday's rumor that a pair of popular stars have been let go from Days of Our Lives, we can now confirm:
Brandon Beemer (pictured) and Martha Madison have been fired from the show. Sources say their ousting was a decision made by executive producer Ken Corday; it was financially driven.
"Wow. I can't believe how fast word travels," Madison said in a statement on her official we site. "I have been bombarded with emails and [messages] asking if it's true [that] Brandon and I have been let go from the show. I'm sorry/sad to say that we have, in fact, been released from our contracts.
It was explained to us on Friday that this was a storyline dictated move by the writers, and that, at this time, we were free to move on to other work. We have both been incredibly grateful for the time that we've had here, and we will still be taping for the next few weeks."
Her Days of Our Lives co-star echoed the actress' sentiments:
"Sad to say that it's true," Beemer write on his website. "The show's decision was very unexpected, but it's always something that comes with the territory. I'll write more when I get more info."
Tamara Braun, who played Carly from 2001-2005 on General Hospital, has joined the cast of Days of Our Lives.
The actress will portray the charachter of Ava, a woman from Steve's past. She'll first air February 8.
"She sounds very layered and complicated and it seems like there's a lot to sink my teeth into," Braun told Soap Opera Digest of her new role.
