This week on Days of Our Lives, John goes back to his old ways when he saves Marlena.

"John checks her vitals, sees the syringes and notices the puncture in Marlena's neck. He knows whatever has befallen Marlena is exactly what she did to Stefano," actor Drake Hogestyn (pictured) told Soap Opera Digest.

Matthew Borlenghi (formerly Ziggy, on The Bold and the Beautiful and Brian on All My Children) will be joining Days of Our Lives as the Mayor of Salem.

Regarding the details of his new character, Borlenghi said:

"At this time, I don't know to what capacity I will be used, but I know that I will be working with the characters of Roman and [Abe], the Chief and Commissioner of SPD, and will be shaking things up regarding Stefano."

• Sami (Alison Sweeney, pictured) comes face to face with an awake and alert Stefano DiMera.

• Phillip (Jay Kenneth Johnson) leaves the hospital.

• Marlena is drugged and paralyzed.

Deidre Hall (Marlena) told Sara A. Bibel of TV Guide Canada that she'll be recreating the role of Marlena's twin sister, Samantha on the soap opera in the near future.

"I'm going to play two parts coming up — my twin sister, Samantha returns and it will be fascinating and exciting. I've never played two parts before," Hall said of an upcoming Days of Our Lives story line.

"My sister played Samantha last time. It has my heart pounding! It's not just playing two characters, but learning the dialogue for both characters."

Fans may remember that Deidre’s sister, Andrea Hall, originated the role and also played Sam’s look-alike, Hattie.

Hall replaced her sister as Hattie during the Salem Serial Killer angle, when the actress played Samantha in a hallucination.
