It wasn't the best performance of the season by Cameron Mathison on last night's Dancing with the Stars. But that actually shows how far he's come now and how high expectations have been raised.

The All My Children star was initially scared by the samba, asking Edyta: "What are they doing down in Brazil?"

To assist, his partner took him out to get a taste of the flavor of Brazil. it worked fairly well, as Mathison began to catch on. He's definitely a talented dancer.

Len said it was good in parts, but he didn't capture the spirit of the samba. Bruno agreed, not really understanding some of the choreography. Carrie Ann once again disagreed, calling the performance very tribal, and very passionate.

Overall? The duo earned a 25.

Cameron did say if it helps him make the finals, he'll dance in a thong. In other words, fans: GO VOTE FOR HIM!

Thorsten Kaye, once again, has talked to Soap Opera Digest about the chances his co-star, Cameron Mathison, has on Dancing with the Stars...

What did you think of this week’s competition?
Kaye: This week was hard for me because Cameron didn’t call me for help. He called Susan Lucci (who gave advice to Cameron on air Monday night). I don’t want to make this about myself because, obviously, it’s his moment. But what shouldn’t get lost among all the spandex and sequins is that in the end, what you have is your friendships.

That’s something that’s understood in the dance world and it’s not something that Cameron understands being a non-dancer. I could understand calling Susan from an actor’s point of view. But from a dancer’s point of view... you know who you call. It was a little upsetting to me.

How was Cameron’s dancing this week?
Kaye: Let me tell you something. I watched him and I wanted to skinny dip in his eyes. That’s what one of the girls said in an interview a couple of weeks ago. “I just want to skinny dip in his eyes!” I’d probably wear a bathing suit just for protection.

What advice have you given him for next week?
Kaye: I’m going to be honest with you: I think maybe he should call Lucci. I’m an angry little gnome. If you need to choose the big star from the show to work with, then do it. I’m hurt right now. Maybe I shouldn’t be giving this interview to you in anger, but that’s where I live right now.

What’s your prediction for Cameron in the long run?
Kaye: I think he may win this thing, and that would be awesome. I really think he’s doing a great job. It looks like he’s having fun.

We agree! This All My Children star has a serious chance at victory.

Cameron Mathison has gone from being a respectable contestant on Dancing with the Stars to one of the favorites.

He impressed viewers and judges against last night, with his Samba, earing 26 (out of a possible 30) points from the panel. Here's what they had to say about this All My Children hunk:

Bruno praised Cameron's hard work and improvement, telling parents to "lock up your daughters."

Carrie Ann thought the couple aced the chemistry aspect of the performance, while Len asked Cameron to button his shirt up. Someone is too sexy for reality TV!

The actor somehow found time in his schedule to speak with Soap Opera Digest about the experience so far...

You look like you’re getting more comfortable on the dance floor. All 9s [this week]!
Mathison: How about that! Yes. I am. I feel like I’m getting a little bit better every week. And, you know, the scores have sort of shown that. But more importantly, I don’t want to sound corny, I’m having more fun out there. I think by doing that, the people that have supported me are having more fun watching.

That’s become my main thing. I want people watching to have fun. Even if it means I fall on my face, I still want to look like I’m having fun, because hopefully everybody watching is going to have more fun, too.

Is it true that Thorsten Kaye has been designing your costumes?
Mathison: Yes. I didn’t know this about [Thorsten Kaye], but he is very passionate about wardrobe design. This has been an excellent opportunity for him to really let his creativity go. Ballroom dancing is a great venue for him.

He loves sequins and spandex and rhinestones and tight pants. He’s capitalizing on all the things he loves to work with when he designs.

With his family and All My Children costar Rebecca Budig (and her husband, former Bachelor Bob Guiney) rooting him on, Cameron Mathison leapt and bounded his way to a 27 out of 30 last night.

“This was a bit of a breakout week for me,” Mathison told People magazine.

Of course, outting in such a stellar physical performance has its price: While rehearsing for the paso, Mathison injured his hip flexor.

“I heard a really loud snap,” Mathison said. “But in the performance I was able to kind of land it. We got it checked out earlier today, and it’s definitely not a tear. It’s a little tight and bruised, that’s all.”

Or he dances like the caped crusader, at least.

Cameron Mathison made it through another round of Dancing with the Stars last night.

Las Vegas lounge act Wayne Newton got the boot this week, as Mathison and partner Edyta Sliwinska weren't even in the bottom two.

This set up a busy day next Tuesday for the All My Children star: the Dancing with the Stars results show airs live at 9 p.m. on the East Coast. He'll then have to rush over to the set of SOAPnet's' first-ever live finale of I Wanna be a Soap Star, which airs at 11 p.m.

We hear a helicopter will be waiting for Mathison, who hosts that reality series. Fortunately, both shows are shot in California.

After his solid performance on Dancing with the Stars last night, Cameron Mathison was in a joking mood.

He conjured up a life similar to that portrayed on Big Love, the HBO series that documents a Mormon man with multiple wives.

“I’ve got my real wife and my TV wife here in the audience tonight,” Mathison said.

And what about his dance partner, Edyta Sliwinska?

“She’s my mistress for one minute and twenty seconds,” the All My Children star joked.

Melissa Claire Egan and Cameron Mathison have shared lots of time on screen on All My Children.

But the actress is especially impressed with the job her co-star has done on a different show recently: Dancing with the Stars.

“I thought he did an amazing job,” Egan told Soap Opera Digest when asked what she thought of Mathison's performance last Monday. “He's definitely improved since the first week. He seems more confident. He was having so much fun out there. This time around, he seemed really excited to be there and really into it. It was so cool to watch.”

Mathison hasn't stopped working on All My Children during his stint on the reality TV competition, as he travels back and forth from New York (where the soap opera is filmed) to Los Angeles on a constant basis.

“Most people aren't even working while they're on [Dancing with the Stars], and he's working on the other side of the country,” Egan said. “It's bananas, but he's holding up well. You never hear him complain about it.”

Another week, another solid performance by Cameron Mathison on Dancing with the Stars.

The All My Children actor was voted into the third week by fans at home. Keep calling on his behalf, everyone!
