Mark Cuban Comes to the Rescue of Cameron Mathison

We thought we knew all there was to know about this past season of Dancing with the Stars, especially as far as Cameron Mathison was concerned.

Turns out, though, that the All My Children hunk needed an assist from Mavericks owner Mark Cuban about halfway through filming.

Cuban rushed in to help Mathison when the actor strained his hip (Mathison suffers from a childhood disease that endangers the use of both hips) while performing on the show.

"Mark was such an amazing help," said Mathison. "He doesn't tell anyone he's doing these things. He just does them. He put me on the phone with the trainer for the Dallas Mavericks and [the trainer] told me what to do to test the hip, to see what kind of injury it was. It wasn't serious. But I was really worried."

A Shirtless Cameron Mathison Impresses on Dancing with the Stars Finale

Cameron Mathison is handsome and honest.

The All My Children star had vowed to strip during the season finale of Dancing with the Stars, and then fulfilled that promise last night.

Take a look at the talented actor - and dancer - immediately following another impressive performance:

First, Cameron received praise for his routine...

Cameron Mathison Criticizes Marie Osmond, Performance

Did you catch Dancing with the Stars last night?

Cameron Mathison did. And the All My Children star wasn't a huge fan of Marie Osmond's "living doll" freestyle routine.

He basically said he wished Osmond would have pulled a Pinocchio and come to life.

"I just was kind of waiting for her to drop the doll persona, then dance and have fun," Mathison said.  "I think it didn't come together as well as they'd hoped."

Still Dancing

Cameron Mathison Returns to Dancing with the Stars!

No, there hasn't been a recount.

But fans will get a chance to see this All My Children star on the show once more next week. We'll let Mathison himself explain the hectic schedule:

"My schedule slows down until Saturday, but then on Sunday morning, I have to catch a flight back to L.A. for the finale of Dancing with the Stars," he recently said. "I dance the Paso Doble again on Tuesday night so that's really cool. I just have to refresh my memory of that dance.

It was probably one of our best dances we did, so we want to make sure we nail it.... I wish I was still going. The schedule was tough but it was really energizing. I actually loved every second of it."

Dancing, Week Six

Cameron Mathison Voted Off Dancing with the Stars

The Last DanceIt was quite the run. But the votes finally were tallied for Cameron Mathison last night and the daytime hunk was eliminated from Dancing with the Stars.

“I don’t know what I’m going to do with time off,” Mathison told host Tom Bergeron. “Not one single bit of me wants to go home.”

From their sound bites, it appeared as though his cast mates felt the same way.

Helio Castroneves, the last man standing in the competition for next week’s semifinals, said he “lost my wing man. Cameron is the Super C! He’s a really great guy and we’re going to miss him.”

Meanwhile, Melanie Brown referred to the All My Children star as “hilariously funny,” while Mathison's pro partner, Edyta Sliwinska, said: "I’ve loved every minute of dancing with Cameron. I’m truly proud of him. I never thought we were going to go so far.”

How does Cameron feel about the overall experience?

“Dancing in front of 20 million people on live television is one of the last things I thought I’d ever do a couple years ago,” Mathison told People magazine after the show. “I am proud that I could dive into something that I knew nothing about, something I am very uncomfortable doing and with perseverance and hard work, I can become comfortable and grow. I know it sounds corny, but I’m really proud of that.”

Cameron Mathison Struggles on Dancing with the Stars

Cameron Mathison really wanted to do well on Dancing with the Stars last night. You could feel it, as he promised: “This is my week to bring home a 10!”

It didn't work out quite so perfectly, however.

Dancing the Viennese waltz to “Hedwig’s Theme” from the Harry Potter movies, the All My Children stud and Edyta Sliwinska started out strong. But Len wasn’t wild about Cameron’s choice to bare his chest in a non-Latin routine and the three nines from judges were solid - but fell short of the soap opera hunk’s goal.

Results, Please...

Next up was the Cha-Cha. This is when it went downhill for the couple.

Mathison struggled in the finesse department, as Carrie Anne said: “You hit the lines and they’re beautiful. It’s all the in-between moves you need to work on.”

Len simply found it wooden and “dancing by numbers.”

When the set of eights were revealed, the disappointment showed on Cameron’s face. But he took some solace when the audience booed the judges and simply replied: "I thought I did alright.”

So did we. But he's gonna need your vote to remain in the competition.

Cameron Mathison Needs Your Help!

It wasn't the best night of dancing for Cameron Mathison; so now the All My Children star needs your help in order to last another week on Dancing with the Stars.

Go vote!

Cameron and Edyta's high-energy Quickstep seemed much more fast-paced than the other Quicksteps on the evening, which isn't really a good thing.

Carrie Ann asked if Cameron drank a Red Bull before the performance. She called the routine "wild" and "out of control." Len told the couple to calm down, while Bruno believed that Cameron forgot the steps during his rushed performance.

Score: 24 (8, 8, 8).

Dancing, Week Six

Later in the night, the couple's jive was much lighter and less intense in comparison. There were still plenty of fun elements, though. Cameron jumped over Edyta's shoulders at one point.

Len informed us that the Jive normally suits short, compact dancers, but that Cameron did a fantastic job. Bruno said that there were "more kicks than a rodeo" and loved Cameron's performance, too. Carrie Ann added that Cameron began the competition as the good-looking guy who could "kinda" move, but developed into a great dancer.

Score: 27 (9, 9, 9).

A Cameron Mathison Profile

People magazine recently profiled a few studs from this season of Dancing with the Stars.

Not surprisingly, Cameron Mathison made the list. Here's what the article had to say about him:

Profession: Actor, All My Children, partnered with Edyta Sliwinska.

A Cameron Mathison Picture

The Canadian already makes women swoon on daytime TV, and now he's proving he can hold his own with the primetime pros on Dancing with the Stars.

"I think I'm good under pressure with things that I'm familiar with," Mathison, who was diagnosed with Perthes disease (a degenerative condition that affects the hip joint) at a young age, told People. "I am not a dancer, but we've put a lot of work into it and I'm ready."

Walt Willey Speaks on Cameron Mathison, Dancing with the Stars

Soap Opera Digest caught up with Walt Willey after the performance of his All My Children co-star on Dancing with the Stars.

So, how did he think Cameron Mathison did after week six?

Q: What were your impressions of Cameron this week?
Walt Willey: I thought he was Captain John Smith on steroids. I told him the other day, "You are my hero. You are calming down and enjoying yourself." He's relaxed, and he looks great. I asked how much weight he's lost, and he said, "I've lost two pounds. I've driven all the water out of my body and made leaner muscle mass." He's pretty psyched about that.

Dancing, Week Six

Q: What did you think about the little headbands on his arms?
Willey: They were a little too Village People for me. But dancing with Disney Property was a really good idea. "Hey, you be Pocahontas!"

Q: What did you think of Cameron's boast at the end?
Willey: I think he is really sorry that he said "I'll take off my shirt if you vote me into the finals." I could see the regret fill his big wide eyes. I could see him thinking, "I can't believe I said I'll do this in a thong if I get to the finals because they'll make me do it. Why do I always do things like that?!"
