Brian Frons, president, Daytime, Disney-ABC Television Group announced today that Emmy Award-winning writer Charles Pratt, Jr. will serve as head writer and consulting producer for All My Children.

He'll begin on June 23.

"Charles Pratt, Jr. is a master storyteller. His talents in writing today’s biggest primetime hits in conjunction with his vast experience with daytime dramas will undoubtedly elevate All My Children stories in new and exciting directions," said Frons.

Ddded executive producer Julie Hanan Carruthers: "I am incredibly excited to welcome Chuck as headwriter of All My Children. I look forward to his contemporary storytelling sensibility, his warmth and sense of humor enriching the entire canvas of Pine Valley."

Pratt served as co-head writer (isn't that an oxymoron?) of General Hospital from 2002-2006.

It's gonna be an interesting week ahead for All My Children. Here are a few spoilers:

• Tad awakens.

• JR (Jacob Young, pictured) disowns Adam as his father.

• Aidan confronts Greenlee.

• Babe (Amanda Baker) pretends to be a prostitute.

Soap Opera Weekly is reporting that Leven Rambin has issued a statement confirming her exit from the show.Here's Rambin's statement to her fans:

First of all, I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your unwavering support of me and my characters over the past 4 years. As you know, I started All My Children when I was extremely young, so I essentially grew up there; memories of my teenage years will consist mostly of days (and nights) spent at All My Children.

It has been such an amazing forum for me to grow as a person and an actress. I was so fortunate to be in such an environment for the past 4 years. But, alas, much like my peers who are graduating high school around this time, it's time to move on.

That was Sydney Penny's reaction to learning that her character, Julia, is being killed off All My Children. We'll miss the actress on the show.

On Monday, All My Children will air a repeat. As for new episodes coming up, here's a glance at their story lines...

• Jesse and Aidan go in search of Kate.

• Greenlee kisses Zach (Thorsten Kaye, pictured).

• Doctors work to keep Tad alive.

• Kendall tries to make peace with Greenlee.

James Harmon Brown and Barbara Esensten, who were named co-head writers of All My Children May 2007, will no longer be penning the happenings in Pine Valley.

Their replacement?

Former General Hospital co-writer scribe, Charles Pratt, Jr., whose writing credits also include Melrose Place, Sunset Beach and Santa Barbara ; more recently, he's been serving as a producer on ABC of Desperate Housewives and Ugly Betty.

As previously announced, Ne-Yo will be guest starring on All My Children on May 21 and May 22. He'll be performing two songs on the episodes, while also hanging out with the character of Jessie.

Why wait until next week to find out what happens on All My Children? Here are a few spoilers...

• Angie and Jesse renew their vows with long time friend Greg Nelson at their side.

• Greenlee (Rebecca Budig, pictured) is relieved when Aidan assures her that he cares more about having her than having children.

• Tragedy occurs on a rooftop when Robert aims his gun at Tad (Michael E. Knight). Uh-oh!

An ABC source has confirmed to Daytime Confidential that Annie Lavery's socipathic brother Richie (played by Billy Miller) will be killed off in the neart future.

As a quick refresher/summary: Richie came on All My Children for the sole purpose of tormenting his sister Annie (Melissa Claire Egan) and to give her husband Ryan (Cameron Mathison) yet another chance to play hero.

From there, the character developed feelings for Babe (Amanda Baker) and there was almost a flicker of hope he would be humanized. Almost.
