It looks to be an exciting week ahead on All My Children:

• Richie is arrested.

• Frankie takes Randi to the hospital.

• Erica's new show is a big success.

• Greenlee (Rebecca Budig) tells Aidan (Aiden Turner, pictured) she just wants to be friends. Will he agree?

Actor/director/producer/writer Melvin Van Peebles will guest star on the July 10 episode of All My Children.

The multi-talented star will play the role of Samuel's (Mario Van Peebles) father, Melvin Woods. As you may have surmised, Melvin Van Peebles (pictured) is the real-life father of All My Children regular Mario.

Art will be imitating life on a future All My Children episode.

Newcomer Daniel Kennedy has landed the recurring role of Petey Cortlandt on All My Children.

The character is the son of Opal and Palmer. He'll return on July 11.

Sorry, Charles Parnell fans:

Soaps.com is reporting that the actor is leaving All My Children. He took over the role from William Christian in 2005, taking a break from the part in late 2007.

But Parnell returned as Derek during the end of the Zach and Greenlee bomb-shelter storyline and has remained on All My Children ever since.

Next week, look for an announcement from Pine Valley that the town is in need of a new Chief of Police. Who might be first in line? None other than Jesse!

Brian Frons, president, Daytime, Disney-ABC Television Group announced today that Emmy Award-winning writer Charles Pratt, Jr. will serve as head writer and consulting producer for All My Children.

He'll begin on June 23.

"Charles Pratt, Jr. is a master storyteller. His talents in writing today’s biggest primetime hits in conjunction with his vast experience with daytime dramas will undoubtedly elevate All My Children stories in new and exciting directions," said Frons.

Ddded executive producer Julie Hanan Carruthers: "I am incredibly excited to welcome Chuck as headwriter of All My Children. I look forward to his contemporary storytelling sensibility, his warmth and sense of humor enriching the entire canvas of Pine Valley."

Pratt served as co-head writer (isn't that an oxymoron?) of General Hospital from 2002-2006.

Soap Opera Weekly is reporting that Leven Rambin has issued a statement confirming her exit from the show.Here's Rambin's statement to her fans:

First of all, I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your unwavering support of me and my characters over the past 4 years. As you know, I started All My Children when I was extremely young, so I essentially grew up there; memories of my teenage years will consist mostly of days (and nights) spent at All My Children.

It has been such an amazing forum for me to grow as a person and an actress. I was so fortunate to be in such an environment for the past 4 years. But, alas, much like my peers who are graduating high school around this time, it's time to move on.
