Vincent Irizarry: Excited for All My Children Return

How does newly axed The Young and the Restless star Vincent Irizarry feel about returning to All My Children?

Not too shabby, based on a recent quote he gave to Soap Opera Weekly.

“I’ve started to watch the show again, and my daughter looks different! It’s amazing what a year and a half will do. I’m excited [to be back]. Toward the end, [ex-head writer] Megan [McTavish] had lost her footing with the character, but for the better part of nine years, David was one of the best characters on daytime.”

All My Children Rumors: Alicia Minshew on Way Out?

ABC does not comment on contract negotiations. However, rumors are running rampant that All My Children might be saying goodbye to one of its favorite actresses.

Soap Central reports that insiders are saying the woman who plays Kendall Hart could be poised to exit the show in the upcoming months. Nothing has been decided at this time, as talks between Minshew and ABC executives are ongoing.

Work Out Gal

Regarding her future on the series, Minshew has simple said: "We're in the middle of negotiations. I'm in the process of figuring things out and trying to make things work."

Would it be a disaster if Alicia Minshew left All My Children?

An Exciting All My Children Spoiler!

Finally.

That's how most All My Children fans are reacting over the news that Zach lays down the law to Kendall about their marriage on the show next week.

"He takes her away to a beach house and confronts her," Thorsten Kaye told The New York Daily News. "Of course, she turns it around: 'You're the one who always walks away!' That's not true. Zach is just trying to be a family man. That's a new thing for him. But Kendall is all, 'Ryan this, Aidan that,' and that is not working for Zach."

Moreover, the more Kendall brings up her former lovers, the angrier Zach becomes.

"With Kendall, it's always what Ryan needs. Zach says, 'Well, what about what we need as a family?' It's not an ultimatum," Kaye said. "It's just getting to the point where he's going to have to say, 'If you need to be with all these other people, then maybe we have to take a harder look at you and me. Why do you have to be the one to fix all these people?'"

It's a good question. We're excited to see All My Children explore it.

All My Children Makes Casting Call to Veterans

All My Children has launched a casting search for a veteran of the Iraq War to join the series in a new role.

According to TV Guide, the show is hoping to cast the role of Brot, an injured veteran who plays the believed-dead love interest of Beth Ehlers' Lt. Taylor Thomas. That character came to Pine Valley to deliver service medals to Dr. Fankie Hubbard.

When Thomas finds out Brot is alive, the couple reunites, with flash backs reveals for each along the way.

AMC Cast

Executive producer Julie Hanan Carruthers said that casting a real-life veteran "will give this character an authentic and specific personal perspective, combined with a unique sensibility."

Carruthers also said the series will partner with USA Cares, an organization that supports 9/11 veterans and their families to "ensure that we tell this story honestly and accurately.” Sounds admirable to us.

This isn't the first time All My Children has incorporated a real-life military situation into the show. It had story lines in the 1970s that were focused on the Vietnam War.

Vincent Irizarry: Back on All My Children

Vincent Irizarry - who recently wrapped up his stint as David Chow on The Young and the Restless - will return to the role of Dr. David Hayward on All My Children later this year.

The doctor (ex-lover of Erica and Krystal, father to Babe, and nemesis of numerous Pine Valley citizens) made his All My Children debut in 1998 and skipped town in November 2006 when the popular vetern was given his walking papers.

All My Children Writer Speaks Out

AMC WriterCharles Pratt, Jr. (pictured) is the new head writer on All My Children. He recently spoke with Soap Opera Digest about the challenges facing himself and the series ahead:

Digest: What attracted you to All My Children?
Pratt: I've always been a Julie Carruthers [executive producer] fan. We've worked together before and I just love her, and I love what she does on the show since she's been here. All the actors are just good actors, whether they've been on the show for years or they're new.

Digest: Let's talk about some of the problem areas on the show, starting with Fusion.
Pratt: I think I looked at Fusion as, not "What do we do with Fusion?" but as an opportunity, as we do with magazine publishing on a show like Ugly Betty. My gosh, a woman-run company, yet all they do is run around and chase after their romantic interests. These are working women; let's put them in the work environment and give them great, funny, romantic stories under that umbrella.

We've got the younger working women, put them up against the spoiled rich girls, Kendall and Greenlee, who are running it and seem to be so distracted by their romantic lives. There's great fun in that and relatability. My feeling is, rather than figure out ways to use it, that can become drudgery. Let's make it exciting! Let's make it a world we want to see. I think all of it's there.

Without it becoming a business story, you make it Greenlee vs. Kendall, rich against poor. I personally was confused with Kendall and Greenlee. When are they friends, when are they not? Best friends have little spats and disagreements, but they also know each other better than anyone in the world. We're going to clarify all of that.
