When asked about the cancellation of soap opera stalwart Guiding Light, Days of Our Lives star Alison Sweeney had a simple response:
It's very upsetting to see such a iconic part of TV history say good bye. Guiding Light will be greatly missed.

Alison Sweeney is a mother for the second time.
On her official NBC blog, the Days of Our Lives star wrote about giving birth to daughter Megan:
There is SO much to say… I don’t know where to begin. First of all, yes, I had to go right to the hospital after shooting a weigh-in at Biggest Loser. So, I arrived not having eaten lunch, or anything. And Megan was born that night! At one point the Dr thought things were moving slowly, and it might not be until 4 or 5am.
So I sent my restless husband off with his friend for a bite to eat (I certainly didn’t want them eating in front of me since I wasn’t allowed any food – which I didn’t know until it was too late. Take note! Eat beforehand!) And then seriously, he couldn’t have been gone 10 minutes, my girlfriend and I were chatting away, and everything happened all at once. (euphemism intended for all squirmy people.) Next thing I know, my friend is texting dave – hurry back!!!
And the Dr is saying DON’T DO ANYTHING, do breathe too hard, till he gets back. And once he returned, scrubbed in, it wasn’t more than 15 minutes later she was born. She did not want to be born on the 13th! Lol. Which apparently was a bet between Dave and his buddy.
Just prior to midnight last night, Days of Our Lives actress Alison Sweeney gave birth to a girl, Megan Hope Sanov. She weighed six pounds, seven ounces.
"Both mommy and baby – and daddy, too – are doing well," said Sweeney's rep Carrie Simons. "It was a very easy delivery, and everybody is great."

In a new interview, Days of Our Lives star Alison Sweeney states she's never been a part of anything like the story line involving EJ.
Here's exactly what Sweeney had to say about the angle:
I have read all sorts of opposing view points on that story. In 16 years on a soap, I've never been part of a more controversial, divisive storyline. And for someone who is always interested in the fans perspective and feedback, it was incredibly difficult for me to try to digest both sides of the argument. In the end, I had a job to do, and I did it the best I could.
Don't get Alison Sweeney wrong.
The Days of Our Lives star obviously loves her son, Benjamin. But she's also excited about giving birth to a girl in a couple months.
“I love decorating her room with all this great girlie stuff,” the actress said. “I’ll be honest, I’m very excited about buying a princess dress. And the lip gloss and nail polish — it’s going to be so cute!”

Alison Sweeney has no complains about life on Days of Our Lives. In a recent interview, the actress aid that time on the show hasn't gotten old at all:
"I love playing Sami. It still excites me. She’s different every day. Every day I get a script, and it’s a brand-new challenge."
Sweeney went on about her character:
"She’s had two men fighting over her for so long, and now there are none. She is definitely wondering what happened with that. With Lucas, she found a real, adult, mature relationship. Then EJ came along, and he manipulated Sami like she did with Austin. As an actress, it’s fun for me to be along for the ride."
As for what Sweeney would love to see for Sami down the line on Days of Our Lives? She has some ideas.
"I would love to see Sami get involved with a career of some kind. I’ve always felt that she’s been underestimated. If we could get her focused on her career, that would be a good way to vent her emotions and energies.”
Alison Sweeney, the busiest woman on daytime TV, turns 32 today.

Alison Sweeney may have a pair of jobs - as host of The Biggest Loser and as a star on Days of Our Lives - but she isn't going totally Hollywood. Don't expect this actress to give her next baby a weird name like Zuma, Honor or Suri.
"I'm definitely conservative when it comes to baby names," Sweeney said last week. "We're looking for pretty but traditional. There are lots of names up in the air, but we're not anywhere near picking one."
Alison Sweeney is excited to be fat.
The Days of Our Lives star is pregnant, of course, so it doesn't really count. That's why she's looking forward to packing on the ounds.
"It's really the only time in your life that you're supposed to gain weight," Sweeney told People magazine at Tuesday's auction of celeb-donated jeans for Clothes Off Our Back, which benefits children's charities. "They say that you're eating for two, but you have to remember that one of the two is only five ounces. It's not the same."
Initially, during her second pregnancy, gaining weight was the last thing on her mind.
"I was really morning sick," the actress said. "It was brutal. I would order my favorite things from restaurants, and I would get it and say, 'Get that thing away from me.' Grilled chicken or tomatoes would be the worst. I would tell my husband to get it away from me."
