Kyle Lowder Shares Feelings on The Bold and the Beautiful Character, Story Line

The character of Rick is heavily involved on The Bold and the Beautiful these days.

As such, actor Kyle Lowder recently sat down to discuss life on the drama with Soap Opera Weekly. Here's an excerpt:

Weekly: Rick really thinks he has everyone where he wants them and is sitting pretty.
Kyle Lowder: Oh, yeah, he thinks he is. I know a lot of people are looking at this story and saying, "I can't stand Rick; he's so whiny, he's so bratty." It's too easy for people to see him being whiny and bratty and trying to manipulate to get what he wants. I want people to be reminded that, in Rick's head, this is [from] a lifetime of pain and suffering. I'm not saying it's justified; I'm saying that it goes deeper.

I want people to try and look deeper as to why Rick is doing this. It's not just a little brat trying to get what he wants. This is an adult who is really trying to ostracize Ridge from the family, from the company, from everything. He's not just trying to break up his mommy and a guy he hates. I am not defending him, but everything he is doing right now is to try and get Ridge ostracized.

Van Hansis Says Being Bad Feels Good

Van the Han

Having stuffed the ballot box to win the Oakdale U election, Luke is falling back into some old patterns and destructive habits on As the World Turns.

And portrayer Van Hansis wouldn't have it any other way. He recently spoke to Soap Opera Weekly about the character's changes:

Are you having a good time with Luke's fall from grace?
Oh, yeah, it's been great to play, because you can only do so much with a character that is, for the most part, 100 percent good. You can only take it to certain places, because nobody's like that — everybody does bad things; everybody. So to have a good character — because I do think that Luke is essentially still a good character — doing bad things and making bad decisions, that's some of the most fun stuff to play as an actor.

Nadia Bjorlin Speaks on Future

Where will Nadia Bjorlin be in a year?

The Days of Our Lives beauty can't say for sure. But she shared her thoughts on the future with TV Guide Canada recently:

"I still believe there’s a future for me on prime time and film. The reason I returned was because Days kept calling me to come back to the show. I actually signed with Days of Our Lives the day before the strike was announced. Obviously, there were promises of great story.

Also, most actors knew Hollywood would be screwed up for a while due to the impending strike, so it seemed like a no-brainer to me to return. Honestly, I did miss Days of Our Lives, too. You know, Days has always felt like a home to me. So, it seemed like great timing. We’ll see — I have a year left on my contract."

A New Deal for Days of Our Lives

Phew.

Amid speculation that dwindling ratings would cause Days of Our Lives to get canceled, the show has received a reprise: it recently signed a new 18-month deal with Sony Pictures TV.

The current deal was set to expire in March 2009, as fans panicked that the series would go the way of Passions. Now, however, those fears can be put on hold until at least September 2010.
