When asked about the cancellation of soap opera stalwart Guiding Light, Days of Our Lives star Alison Sweeney had a simple response:

It's very upsetting to see such a iconic part of TV history say good bye. Guiding Light will be greatly missed.

In a new interview with TV Guide Canada, Kimberly McCullough is asked if she's staying on TV for the foreseeable future.

General Hospital fans ought to be pleased with her response:

I think so. I have to be honest with you: I don’t want to be an actor forever. I’m writing a few television projects in my spare time. That’s the direction I’m headed in. The reason I returned to the show is because I missed working and I wanted some security so I could focus on my writing. Auditioning takes up a lot of time. I might end up leaving the profession altogether so I can become a full-time writer. I’d like to write for television and film. I have a few projects I’m almost ready to talk about. So I am excited.

Nia Peeples has been let go from The Young and the Restless.

The actress, who plays Karen Winters, originated the role in April 2007. She was then let go in May 2008, then brought back last July.

No final airdate for Peeples has been announced.

According to Soap Opera Digest, Kathy Brier (Marcie) and Chris Stack (Michael) have been let go from One Life to Live.

"There could have been more story for Michael and Marcie, but that's just not the direction they decided to take it," said a show source. "It's the nature of the business."
