The Bold and the Beautiful: 20 Years Young!

On August 25, The Bold and the Beautiful celebrates a milestone: 20 years on the air.

In honor of, well, itself, executive producer Bradley P. Bell and fan club president Cathy Tomas have organized an event that will give fans from all over the world the opportunity to meet and greet the stars of their favorite soap opera.

The gala will be held at the Sheraton Universal Hotel in Universal City, California. It will consist of fun-filled activities, including a meet and greet with stars such as Katherine Kelly Lang, replete photo sessions and autograph signings.

Moreover there will be meals, clip reels, a silent auction and other forms of entertainment and special 20th anniversary surprises.

A breakfast from 8am to 11am begins the affair. For $90, fans can dine with select actors, ask questions and receive autographs and pictures with the stars.

After that, for $150 per fan, there will be an official luncheon. This does at least entitle you to the four-color glossy coffee table book entitled The Bold and the Beautiful: A Celebration of 20 Years.

Meanwhile, Tomas is also organizing a luncheon for fans of The Young and the Restless on Sunday, August 26 also at the Sheraton Universal Hotel. We'll have details on that shortly.

The Bold and the Beautiful Memorabilia: Available for Charity

Look like your favorite star from The Bold and the Beautiful AND contribute to charity.

Hard to beat that, isn't it?

Jennifer Gareis Photo Fans of this soap opera have the chance to purchase unique memorabilia and/or or vie for a once-in-a-lifetime dining experience with one of its actors, all for a good cause. An organization called Thursday's Child is offering dresses worn by two of The Bold and the Beautiful's most beautiful:

Jennifer Gareis (pictured) and Ashley Jones.

"Thursday's Child is such a great charity," says Gareis. "It's basically a hotline and they deal with so many different issues, like runaways, addictions and anorexia."

Even before these particular auctions, the actress was already involved with the group.

"I've done a few things for them before," she explains. "I also appeared on The Tyra Banks Show to help raise awareness. On that episode, it was about child exploitation and shutting down a lot of sites on the Internet about that kind of thing."

Gareis points out that her donated frock has an unusual distinction, as well: "I never actually wore it on the show," she notes. "It's the dress that I wear in the opening credits, so it gets seen every day. And people can bid on the Bridget dress, too, which Ashley wore on the show, as well as in our most recent cast photo."

Meanwhile, in a separate auction, Gareis will break bread with the top bidder.

"I was thinking of a Sunday brunch," she says. "It still could change and be lunch at the CBS commissary, but I'm leaning toward the brunch. I know for sure that I'm not working on Sundays, so then I could give my undivided attention to the winner. If it's in the middle of work and I'm nervous because I have a billion lines to learn, I'm afraid I won't be as attentive, so I'm thinking it's better to do it on a day off."

Guiding Light, Passions Casting News: Chappell, Evans to Stay Put

Crystal Chappell Here are a pair of tidbits of interest for any Guiding Light or Passions follower:

  • Crystal Chappell (Olivia) will be sticking around Springfield. In a statement to fans on her official Web site message board, the actress writes:

"I am so happy to be staying on Guiding Light for another year. They are my family and hopefully, Olivia will find her own light. Regardless of how some people feel about Olivia, I have always appreciated all the fans of the show."

Chappell joined the show back in 1999.

  • Also, a rep for Andrea Evans confirms that she has re-signed with Passions and will continue to play Rebecca when the show makes its jump to DirecTV in September. This silences quashing rumors that Evans may reprise her popular role of Tina on One Life to Live.

The Emmy-nominated actress has portrayed Gwen's mother for the past seven years.

Cameron Mathison and Susan Lucci: A Pair of Chums

The All My Children cast is known for being tight.

But Cameron Mathison recently told Soap Opera Digest about a particularly good friend of his on the set: Susan Lucci.

Away from the camera, Mathison often spends time with this daytime legend and her husband Helmut Huber. They try to squeeze in golf, skiing, or just hanging out at Lucci and Huber’s home during their rare hours of free time.

“She’s still like a mom, a total sweetheart,” Mathison said of Lucci.

Mathison - pictured here, topless, wet, handsome - also raved about Lucci and Huber’s long-lasting, loving marriage, as well as Huber’s amazing, commanding, funny personality. Sounds like Susan may need to watch her back!

All My Children Hires Deaf Actor, Aims for Authenticity

To beef up the current Spike story line, All My Children has enlisted the assistance of J.Q. DePaiva. Only 10, this young actor is deaf in real life.

All My Children He's been hired to guest-star September 20, 21 and 24 in scenes that involve Kendall Hart (Alicia Minshew) and her child.

Fans of One Life to Live, meanwhile, should recognize the last name of this rising star. J.Q.’s parents are actors Kassie DePaiva (Blair, OLTL) and James DePaiva (Max, OLTL). Kassie will also lend her help to this All My Children angle.

Deaf at birth, J.Q. now wears permanent cochlear implants that enable him to hear sounds and blend in normally with other kids. Co-writers Barbara Esensten and James Harmon Brown said they are committed to infusing authenticity into this story of Kendall’s and Ryan’s child, who went deaf as a result of a car accident.

Spike will not experience the miracle of hearing instantaneously, said Brown, as they hope to build up the deafness as a challenge that profoundly, realistically affects those who love the boy.

Fashion Face-Off: Vanessa Hudgens vs. Leven Rambin

Vanessa Hudgens stars in High School Musical.

They do have one thing in common, however: Each appears to shop at the same store. The dresses below may be different colors, but they're the same design.

Leven Rambin vs. Vanessa Hudgens
