In the Soap Opera Spotlight: Michael Park

Michael Park PicAs the World Turns fans are familiar with Michael Park. As you'll find out below, this actor is more than just talented. He's hilarious!

Here are a few other facts about the actor, as well:

  • He majored in studio art in college
  • He has a joker tattoo on one ankle and the Japanese symbol for father, along with his children's names, on the other
  • He's friends with James Van Der Beek (from Dawson's Creek)
  • Originally auditioned for the role of Paul Ryan

"If I'm as funny as he is in my life, I'm very happy. He's the funniest person ever — ever — to watch work. The crew loves him. That's the kind of impression I'd like to leave with the crew: 'Gosh, she made us laugh.' He's the kind of guy you want around. He makes everything better, no matter what's going on." — Martha Byrne (Lily), on Park, to Soap Opera Digest, 8/3/04

Josh Taylor Comments on Days of Our Lives Enjoyment

He doesn't update it too often, but Days of Our Lives star Josh Taylor posted a few weeks ago on his official blog.

In it, he talked about his recent fun on the show, while also congratulating a co-star on a recent new addition to his family:

I have enjoyed the fun, light comedy stuff that they have given Bo and Hope and Roman to do. Also the drug induced comedy stint that I was able to do with Bo. Peter Reckell (Bo) was a tremendous help and a good team-mate in those scenes.

By the way, Peter and his wife Kelly, just had a baby: 6 lbs. 9oz. All is well for them.

The Young and the Restless Writers to Remain Loyal

young-logo.jpg A recent article in Variety hinted that writers from The Young and the Restless were contemplating a crossing of the picket lines.

Now, though, the staff of the show has released a statement that shoots this rumor down.

“As the writing staff of The Young and the Restless gathered to share pizza together -- something we have vowed to do weekly until the strike ends -- we were incensed to read the incorrect information printed in Variety that several writers on our show sought financial core status,” the statement read.

So while the writers would love to address soap fans that are dying to find out if Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) will prove that Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) is a killer, the strikers are not going to because they aren't presently working.

"Our entire writing staff of 18 is united and we fully support our union. Not a single person who was writing for Y&R when we struck has gone core. Not one. We stand united with sore feet from picketing. Well, some of us sit. But we all do our part, and we cannot be parted,” the statement continued.

Chaunteé Schuler Dishes on As the World Turns Spoilers, Angles

Chaunteé SchulerChaunteé Schuler is new to the world of soap operas - and TV, in general.

Her role as Bonnie McKechnie marks the actress' first foray into scripted television. Schuler says that Bonnie's return signifies a new beginning for the character on As the World Turns, as she's now equipped with more wisdom and maturity.

“They will learn a little bit [about what Bonnie's been doing since she left Oakdale] but Bonnie returning is her way of starting a new chapter in her life," Schuler recently teased. "There have been a lot of things that have happened that have been tough for her.  She returns to have a fresh start."

As loyal As the World Turns fans know, Bonnie left Oakdale to live in Florida following Isaac's proposal. While she was away, she earned a law degree, married and then divorced Isaac.  Four years later, she's returned to enter into practice with her mother.

Without giving away too many show spoilers, Schuler reveals the attempt to start a new chapter in Bonnie's life coincides with a love interest in the near future.  So far, Bonnie and Holden have hit it off well, but Schuler remains uncertain of what's in store for her character's love life.

“We're not sure. Bonnie comes back to town kind of lonely. She has her cousin Dallas [Wole Parks] who acts as a confidant, but Bonnie is really trying to concentration on work and getting herself back on her feet… Viewers will just have to wait and see,” she said.

Deanna Russo: Playboy Babe of the Month

Deanna Russo portrays Logan Armstrong on The Young and the Restless.

But it's safe to assume that the actress hasn't been named Babe of the Month by Playboy for this role.

Readers of that publication are more likely to recognize Russo from a commercial for Axe body spray. In the deodorant ad, she plays a girl driven by Axe's potent scent to rip her boyfriend's father's clothes off.

"I was in a drugstore recently, and this couple was looking at Axe products," she told the magazine. "As I walked by I gave them a bow chicka wow wow. They were not amused."

Deanna Russo stars on The Young and the Restless. And in the fantasies of many men.

Aside from trying to make consumers laugh, Russo can be found in a trio of horror DVDs: Rest Stop, Believers and Ghost Voyage.

"I pretty much die in everything," she said. "I won't say whether I come back to life."

Overall, it's hard to criticize anything on her body. But Deanna said ever since she watched Kill Bill with her mother, she' been unjustly critical of her feet:

"There are scenes where you see Uma Thurman's feet. They're not pretty. My mom said, 'Ugh, she's got feet like yours. Couldn't they have used a foot model?' Thanks, Mom."

Hunter Tylo Files Wrongful Death Suit

A month after her son drowned in a pool following an apparent seizure October 18, Hunter Tylo has filed a wrongful death claim and Michael's psychologist.

The Bold and the Beautiful star is accusing Nevada-based therapist Shanna Downing of misdiagnosing the 19-year-old’s seizure disorder, which started affecting him at age 15, as “stress-related” and implanting “false memories.”

Grieving Mother

But does the actress have a case?

“If the patient is not cautioned by the therapist to continue with medical treatment, there could be negligence,” Santa Monica, California, criminal attorney Alec Rose told Us Weekly. “But the ‘false memories’ claim will be difficult to prove.”

Kassie DePaiva: Proud of Son, Kristen Alderson

A Kassie DePaiva PictureKassie DePaiva may star on One Life to Live, but you can't blame the actress for following All My Children these days, as well.

Her son, JQ, has a recurring role on the soap opera.

“I was so proud of my son on so many different levels. America doesn't know how hard he's struggled and worked to have that speech. But I know,” DePaiva told The Orlando Sentinel of her deaf child. “I know what he's overcome. I think it's just a really positive, inspirational story that they're telling.

It's great that [All My Children] used a child with cochlear implants so a mama who just made a choice to implant her child or a parent, they can see that there's hope.”

DePaiva is also impressed with One Life to Live costar Kristen Alderson, who plays her onscreen daughter, Starr Manning.

“I love her, and I think she has just developed into a beautiful young woman,” DePaiva said. “So many people who go through the doors at an early age in entertainment really can be bratty or entitled. She is so not.
