Lauretta Vaughn: Back on As the World Turns!

Lauretta VaughnLauretta Vaughn may have not taken home the grand prize like Ryan Serhant during this past season of InTurn - but she impressed As the World turns Executive Producer Chris Goutman so much that he offered her a two-week gig on the show this past summer.

Now, her character Kit has returned to Oakdale. CBS.com caught up with Lauretta to discuss the news:

CBS.com: We've missed you. How have you been?
Lauretta Vaughn: Fantastic. I am so excited to be back on As the World Turns. I've been taping a lot of episodes and a few months ago I got married.

CBS.com: How is newlywed life?
Lauretta Vaughn: It's still very strange. It's good. He has always been in my life, so it feels great having him around.

CBS.com: Tell me about Kit's return.
Lauretta Vaughn: You know I campaigned; I really wanted to come back. I have some amazing fans and people on the message boards were writing in and were so supportive of me. It was like having an out of body experience seeing this third party look out for you. In the summer - when I had my two-week stint - I went to [Executive Producer] Chris Goutman and basically begged to be brought back.

It felt so natural to be there and everyone was so lovely. It was strange because I kept bumping into Chris. I saw him in Central Park; I ran into him on the subway. I kept telling him: this is a sign, you need to write me in! I had also given him ideas that I had about how to bring back the character.

CBS.com: Did he like any of them?
Lauretta Vaughn: I'm not sure. One idea we had was to have me return as Kit's identical sister, Kat. Get it, Kit Kat? I thought that was too funny. Honestly, I told Chris I didn't care what he has me doing, I just want to be back! In the end, the producers and writers decided to just have me come back with a suspended sentence.

This time around, I'm in Oakdale to make amends with the Snyder family, and my reasoning for behaving badly in the past was my newfound alcoholism. Apparently, I battled the bottle.

All My Children Casting News: The Return of Darnell Williams and Debbi Morgan

Darnell Williams and Debbi Morgan will be returning to All My Children in early 2008. The duo, of course, portrayed daytime's first and most successful African-American super couple, Jesse and Angie.

The Emmy-Award Morgan played Dr. Angela (Angie) Hubbard from 1982-1990 on All My Children. Most recently, she played lawyer Jennifer Tartaro on The Bold and the Beautiful.

Debbi Morgan

Williams played All My Children's Jesse Hubbard from 1981 until 1988, when his police officer character was killed off. The 52-year old actor has been working on the set of the show as an acting coach and director, while recently enjoying a short-lived role on Guiding Light.

The pair of actors are rumored to have inked long-term contracts. Allow us to say: welcome back!

Matthew Florida is a Nice Guy

Matthew Florida is psyched to be on Days of our Lives.

He says he does have a hard time convincing fans that he's a nice guy in real life... but that winning the recurring role of campus rapist, Ford Decker was like winning the Oscar.

"Oh boy, was it ever. When I got the call back that I won, I was shocked,” Florida said. “It’s just great! This is an experience, and this couldn’t be a better first job. But I must admit, at first I didn’t know I was the rapist. I went from taking off my shirt to being a rapist real fast. Now, I have to get into the mind of a sick person to play this part.”

Ilene Kristen Speaks on One Life to Live Character

One Life to Live ActressIt's been a bittersweet end of the year for Ilene Kristen: her One Life to Live character is flirting with a love interest, while the actress herself is now single following a broken engagement.

Kristen recently discussed the events with Soap Opera Weekly:

Soap Opera Weekly: Is there going to be love with Roxy and Miles?
Ilene Kristen: I think it will be, but I've got to tell you, I don't really know because we're shooting a lot out of sequence. I've shot some stuff, but it's hard to say where it's exactly going.

Weekly: Do you like working with David Chisum (Miles)?
Kristen: I adore working with him, absolutely. We work very well together. He's a lovely guy. He's very good. It will be interesting to see what happens.

Weekly: Anything else new?
Kristen: Brian (Sheridan, former fiancé) and I split up.

Weekly: How are you doing with that?
Kristen: I'm doing okay. It was a very amicable split-up. We could get back together again. But right now, we're living apart. It's very bittersweet to me, because I really care about him. And as I said before, it was totally mutual. We couldn't seemingly figure out certain things. It's difficult. I actually need to take care of some stuff for myself.

When I get into a relationship, I end up taking care of everybody else's stuff but mine. For right now, I really don't want to do that. I don't want to worry about someone else's career. I do that with all of my friends. I have a lot of friends who are great writers. I'm constantly trying to figure out where I can play their songs, what they should be doing. It's one of my better qualities, but it's also one of my worst qualities. I need to reflect on myself right now.

I think it's important right now to be alone, almost. I rather like it at the moment. I grew up watching my parents. They're very supportive of each other. Sometimes, when you're from a good marriage — when you've seen that — you know what that is and you don't want to take anything less. I don't want to settle for a situation where I'm more concerned about what this human being's future is than they are about mine, basically.

Weekly: Any singing engagements?
Kristen: I've been kind of under the radar. I've been doing these gigs at a place called The Society of Illustrators. That's an old, venerable institution art school. The third Thursday of the month — we did one last month and I'm doing one this month, and maybe in January — they have jazz music, they serve a buffet, they have people bring their art pads, and they have nude models.

This is all going on at the same time. The buffet, the nude models, the jazz music and me. It is a trip. It's a blast. It's bizarre. Only in New York — or in Paris. It's fantastic. I heard — I haven't seen him yet — that Tony Bennett shows up every once in a while.

A Pair of Cameron Mathison Appearances!

All has been quiet on the Cameron Mathison front since the All My Children star was voted off Dancing with the Stars.

And it's hard to blame the guy. He needs a rest.

Cameron Mathison

But Mathison will appear twice in front of fans in February. Here are the details:

  1. The actor will appear at the Brokerage Entertainment Club in Belmore, NY on February 9. Tickets are $53.
  2. On February 10, he'll be at Uncle Vinny's/Ferrarra's Cafe in Point Pleasant, NJ. Tickets are $50, event begins at 11 a.m.

Get to Know a Soap Opera Star: Trevor St. John

A Trevor St. John PictureThanks to his role on Dirty Sexy Money earlier this year, Trevor St. John is one of the better known soap opera stars.

But here are a few tidbits not even the most die hard One Life to Live fans would knot about the actor:

  • He played jazz percussion with the Count Basie Orchestra and the Duke Ellington Orchestra.
  • He owns Bioconstructs, a company that teaches biomechanics to fitness professionals.
  • He's a Seattle Mariners fan. Hard to say why.
  • St. John considered being a physical therapist before he got into acting.

Confirmed: Sarah Joy Brown Returning to General Hospital

Sarah Joy BrownRumor is now fact: Sarah Joy Brown will be coming back to General Hospital.

The actress will portray Angela Zacharra, Anthony's daughter and Johnny's sister. Look for her initial scene in January, as the character will be her showing up at Sonny's to talk, but finds Jason (Steve Burton) instead.

Angela will be calling upon the Zacchara rivals because she wants to help them take control of her father's territory. Why the treachery? Because Angela loves her brother Johnny... but hates Trevor. The final, juicy General Hospital spoiler we can spill?

Angela will also have a past with Ric (Rick Hearst).
