In a recent interview, Van Hansis shared his thoughts on his As the World Turns character, Luke:
On discovering Luke was gay: I knew going into the show that they were going to make Luke a gay character but I didn't know how long I was going to stay on the show. I knew where they were going with the storyline but I didn't know if he would get a love interest, but it's great that he has and it's been a fun opportunity for me as an actor.
Mainly an As the World Turns star, Van Hansis also takes to the stage occasionally.
On negative press: I kind of feel like I'm just doing my job. There's always going to be controversy but the positive has far outweighed the negative by staggering amounts. I try to focus on the positive. My mom always taught me that there's always going to be people that just don't like you, and that's life.
I think it's a very important story to tell. The naysayers say that it doesn't have a place and that's just not true - it does, because there are gay couples everywhere in life, so why not show it?
Deirdre Skiles has joined the cast of As the World Turns. The actress will take on the role of Dani Andopolous, the daughter of Steve Andropolous and Betsy Stewart.
Dani was born in October of 1983 and, for a period of time, Craig Montgomery let Betsy think he was her father. It was later revealed that Steve fathered Betsy and Steve and Betsy wed; it was one of the highest rated daytime episodes of all-time.

While his release from Days of Our Lives earlier this year was a shock to fans, Brandon Beemer wasted no time signing on for another role.
He began on The Bold and the Beautiful a few weeks ago and recently chatted with Soap Opera Weekly about the role:
Weekly: Does Owen have real feelings for Donna?
Beemer: Yeah, he's definitely into her. Seeing her with everybody against her and the Forresters saying that she's this, this and this, Owen has had a chance to get to know her a little bit. What he has gotten to know, he really likes. It wasn't what he was expecting.
Weekly: What about Felicia? Is she a romantic option at all?
Beemer: I don’t know. I don't want to get in trouble [by saying anything]!
Weekly: And a lot of emotional stuff riding on the line for Owen...
Beemer: ...which he wasn't expecting.
Weekly: He just came to town to shake down Marcus.
Beemer: Yeah. He was curious: "What is it with these Forresters? What's going on? I want to go check this out."
Winsor Harmon is far more than just a handsome face.
The Bold and the Beautiful star is training for the Nautica Malibu Triathlon. It be held in Southern California on Sunday, September 14. The event will involve a half-mile swim, an 18-mile bike ride and a four-mile run along the Pacific Ocean. Moreover, it will benefit the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles’s Pediatric Cancer Research Program.
“I love this event because it raises money for the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles," Harmon wrote on his website "It's a great day and a great way to give back. I love doing charity work especially for kids; every child should always have a smile on their face.”

In a new interview with OK! Magazine, Michael Damian spoke on his personal life.
Here are a couple highlights of what The Young and the Restless star had to say:
On attraction to his wife: “Her smile, and her beauty and energy. She was shy when I first met her. She’s staring at me right now. She’s leaving the room now because I kicked her out.
Actually, I met her at a telethon in Utah for the Children’s Miracle Network. She was there with her dad, which I didn’t know was her dad at the time, James Best, who is Rosco from The Dukes of Hazzard. I thought it was her boyfriend!
Later, I found out from my brother that it was her dad. Yeah, I was like ‘God, she’s so pretty and sweet’ and I got this really good feeling when I met her. I was actually in shock when she said she was a Solid Gold dancer because I thought she’d be like ‘hey I’m really cool, I’m on TV all the time,’ but she was very shy and soft-spoken.”
On having kids someday: “We’re always open. Right now the last few years have been so difficult. We’ve been working so hard on getting our film company together that we wouldn’t have had time to do it, and we want to do it right. We just sort of have to see what unfolds. God-willing, we’ll see how it happens and if it does.”
