Guiding Light fans from around the world have create a petition to show support for their favorite soap opera.
In an effort to save the drama from cancellation in September, more than 7,000 signatures from devoted viewers in Canada, the UK, Israel, the Netherlands, Italy, Germany, Malta, the Bahamas and the Philippines have already been gathered.

i think it is crazy for them to consider canceling guiding light. i have watched the show since i was a kid when the bauers were the main characters. i will watch the show if cable picks it up. i love this show. yes a lot of people work during the day, but many loyal fans record it to watch later. i watch all the cbs soaps, but guiding light is the best. please save this show.

Guiding light hass been a traditin in my family since the beginning. My grandmother watched it with my mom, my mom watched it with me, and now I'm watching it with my daughter. If guiding light goes off the air it will be a very sad day for all of us as this show has been a bond between our generation for years. Hopefully another network will pick it up and the tradition can live on.

I am so upset to hear that you are cancelling the Guiding Light. This show has been a part of my family since I was a young child. I am now 49 years old and these characters have been a part of my life. Why would you consider cancelling this show when there are so many marginal quality shows on TV such as Big Brother and the Bachelor on TV. Really?? Are you serious??? You are callously cancelling something that is a part of people's lives.... Save the Guiding Light!!!!!

GL has been grossly mistreated. First, they put it on at all different times around the country!! NO STEADY TIMESLOT. Then they put it on at 10 am, for gosh sakes ,in the NYC area virtuallly burying it there in the biggest market in the country. This alone has affected the numbers negatively. Then they bring back our great stars like Grant Aleksander and others and don't even give the show time to reap the benefits. Grant is just back and we don't even get to let the ratings reflect all the improvements.
GL isn't glossy and full of posing models and snippets of dialog--it's real and well acted and moving. Please don't take it off!!!

You have to be kidding CBS, The Guiding Light is tradition. Shame on you for trying to get rid of it. I and my family, will be so disappointed in you if you continue with this. It was mentioned that CBS is going to add a new TALK SHOW. Oh yeah, we certainly need another one of those ridiculous experts trying to give us folks advice. I watch none of those shows. I love Ellen, she is the only talk show entertainment worth watching. Leave the daytime programing alone and leave The Guiding Light alone..

I Hope Guiding Light finds a new home because I've only just found this and I've quickly fallen in love with it.
