Fans of The Young and the Restless aren't the only ones displeased about the firing of Don Diamont.
Longtime co-star Eric Braeden in on record as being dismayed by the move, as well.
"I was very sad about that, to be quite frank with you. He did some of his best work in the last months, where he played the ‘shifty’ guy and the bad guy and you don’t know quite what he is up to. I think he played that extremely well," Braeden said, adding:
"I always think that’s a mistake to let people go that have been part of the fabric as long as he has been. Furthermore, he was related to people on the show, and personally, I think those things are a mistake. If you want to want to save money, then cut down on hiring new actors."
Great Guiding Light news continues to pour in:
Hot on the heels of Grant Aleksander's return to the show (on Monday!), viewers will see Krista Tesreau, who joined Guiding Light as Mindy in 1983.

This marks serious treat for longtime viewers: Tesreau, Aleksander and Michael O'Leary (Rick) were three of the the show's popular Four Musketeers (Beth Chamberlin rounds out the crew as recast Beth; Judi Evans originated the role).
Tesreau will return in early March.

What's the scoop on how Phillip comes back to town? Let's find out, courtesy of the star himself!
"As soon as he arrives he starts encountering people. He’s got issues with all of them," Aleskander said in a recent interview. "So I think he comes back with the desire to clean up some of the situations that he created before he left and some of the problems that have arisen since due to the circumstances under which he left. The biggest one is Lizzie. He thinks that she’s the most vulnerable, being subjected to negative influences inside and outside the family."
As all As the World Turns fans know, of course, Noah and Luke finally had sex a couple weeks ago.
Each of the actors involved in this key storyline recently spoke to The Advocate about the angle. In this spoiler-heavy culture, They were especially pleased that viewers had no idea the sex scene was coming.
"I really liked the way the show handled it by not really having it with bells and whistles and fanfare," Jake Silbermann said.
Added Van Hansis:
"It was exciting for the fans not to have any spoilers on it, because I know there was a big fan group waiting for this moment. In this day and age, to keep that a secret is pretty cool. I think the fans enjoyed being surprised and shocked."
Wow. Breaking, sad news out of the Days of Our Lives world:
Soap Opera Digest has learned that the super popular Mary Beth Evans (Kayla) and Stephen Nichols (Steve), who returned to the show in 2006, have been released.
"It's like they're getting rid of everyone over 40," said a source on set.

As most Guiding Light fans know by now, Grant Aleksander returns to the show next week.
The actor will reprise his role as Phillip. In what context? Beth Chamberlin recently described it to Soaptown USA:
Phillip arrives at the church in the nick of time, or maybe not. It depends on your point of view as to whether it's good timing or not. Keep watching in the next few weeks and you will be really satisfied with your show! It's just really good storytelling that the writers have put together and I think it's the kind of thing where people won't want to miss a single episode.
