Phil Carey has passed away.

The long-time One Life to Live star will forever known as the fiesty Asa Buchanan to fans of that soap opera.

Carey died on Friday from lung cancer complications. He was 83.

History will be made this week on All My Children.

In a two-part episode that begins Friday, February 13, daytime viewers will witness the first gay nuptials in soap opera history!

The marriage will go down between Bianca Montgomery (Eden Riegel) and Reese Williams (Tamara Braun). Riegel has reassured viewers that the relationship will remain true to life.

"There’s no holding back in the physical realm. We’ve never been told to hold back. ABC is allowing us to trust our instincts."
