Ron Raines: Welcome Back, Grant Aleksander!

On February 9, Grant Aleksander returns to Guiding Light in the role of Phillip Spaulding.

As he told TV Guide, co-star Ron Raines - who plays Phillip's father - is excited to have his character's son (who supposedly died in November 2004) back.

"I am absolutely thrilled to have my friend Grant Aleksander back in Springfield," Raines said. "I think the story is going to be terrific and very exciting for the fans. There are a lot of surprises — even some that I don't know!"

Genie Francis Offers General Hospital, Soap Opera Advice

Genie Francis Pic

Former General Hospital star, and recurring guest star, Genie Francis recently spoke to TV Guide about growing up in the business, among other topics.

Here are excerpts from the interview:

TVGuide.com: With that in mind, is there any advice you have for the starlets you cross paths with when you appear on General Hospital from time to time?
Francis: There's nobody who's as young as me or in the same position as I was there. My heart goes out to [Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears], who have really had childhood taken from them and probably missed important developmental steps. They have become sort of "public domain" and something to be made money on. There's no sense of self there, I'm sure of it. None of those young women value themselves as just themselves; they value themselves for their careers and the money they can make.

TVGuide.com: Does General Hospital have any current plans for you?
Francis: No. They have not contacted me. They have kept the character alive in a sort of "freeze-dried" state, so it's easy for them to either leave her there or bring her back.

Greg Rikaart Speaks on The Young and the Restless Character

Greg Rikaart was recently asked a critical question by TV Guide Canada:

At the core, who do you think Kevin is?

Here's what the star of The Young and the Restless had to say:

Kevin rejects society’s view of how one should live their life. He’s constantly battling and at odds with what defines the perfect life. Of course, when you add Terrible Tom’s abuse, Kevin’s lack of self-worth played in to his psychosis. I do think Roscoe Born [ex-Tom] was here for too brief a time. Tom and Kevin’s story could have been more layered.

Vincent Irizarry Speaks on Soap Opera Stops

Vincent Irizarry is a soap opera veteran... of numerous soap operas.

The well-traveled actor recently spoke to Soap Opera Digest about leaving All My Children and joining The Young and the Restless (he's since returned to AMC):

On Being Fired From All My Children in 2006: "Leaving gave me the opportunity to go out to California, do something different, then come back and do it again. So it was okay."

Vincent Irizarry

On Living Bicoastally While Playing David on The Young and the Restless: "It turned into 22 months that I was there total. I would do four days here, five days there, three days here, three days there.... They were very good about accommodating me, so I was very grateful. [To stay in touch with me family] we did phone calls every day, and toward the end, we set up a webcam.

I would talk to the production company about special events. I only had to take the red-eye once, to get back home for my son's birthday party. I was sort of a zombie by the end of the day, but there was no way I would have missed it. We made the best of it. The kids loved coming out to visit me. I brought each of my children out indvidually so we could have special, quality time, just the two of us."
