Joshua Morrow Possesses Secret Talents

Joshua Morrow Pic The Young and the Restless star Joshua Morrow has joined the lineup for Secret Talents of the Stars, a CBS reality competition that begins tonight.

He'll be pitted against other celebrities that are out to prove that have talents beyond what they are best known for. In the April 15 episode, Morrow will perform an "edgy rock-and-roll" act with extreme juggling pro Marcus Monroe. His competition for the night:

  • Girl Next Door Bridget Marquardt (performing... um, on a trapeze)
  • Country crooner Jo Dee Messina (dancing hip-hop)
  • Boxer Roy Jones Jr (rapping, of course).

Viewer votes determine who moves on to the next round. So, like Kelly Monaco on Dancing with the Stars years ago, you can hep Morrow take home the trophy!

General Hospital Writer Addresses Gun Controversy

Gun PlayOn last Friday’s General Hospital, Michael Corinthos III - the 12-year-old son of local mob kingpin Sonny - was accidentally shot in the head.

Even on a show known for violence, the shooting of a child had to be a risky move. Right, head writer Bob Guza Jr.? He told Entertainment Weekly that it plays into a larger theme he wants to promote.

''We've been accused before of glorifying violence,'' Guza said. ''But we always try to show the consequences. We do deal with mobsters. We can't just have them importing illegal tchatchkes from the Far East and getting a slap on the wrist. You've got to deal with the fact that they kill people and people are killed all around them.''

Guza replied to a pair of burning questions, as well:

Will the show will use the shooting as an opportunity to age up Michael and replace 13-year-old Dylan Cash?
Guza (who is keeping mum on Michael's fate) doesn't believe he's necessarily locked into keeping Cash playing Michael forever, but he does say that having the same actor play a character straight through from childhood raises the dramatic potential (just look at Kimberly McCollough's Robin).

Does this mean the end of the mob violence? Is this the start of kinder, gentler General Hospital?
''We're not going to make them all go in the garment business. That is not what this story is about. The show is about romance during wartime, for lack of a better term. We have the highest stakes possible because people can be killed. We're not going to ignore that. We're not going to go away from that. But we're going to make them very, very aware of the consequences and make them try to deal in nonviolent ways.''

Seamus Dever Speaks on Life at General Hospital

Our pals at BuddyTV recently spoke with General Hospital star Seamus Dever. Here are excerpts from the interview:

Seamus Dever How did you end up becoming part of this show?
I had actually tested. I'm kind of one of these actors who has been around a long time, and have made fans out there, a lot of casting people and producers. The story of my life is that I'm generally the second choice for things. I tested for something for General Hospital like five -- no, four years ago now. I came very close and everyone loved me, just not for the part, but they loved me. I hear that a lot.

"You're great, but not for this part." And so they kind of kept me in mind, and this part came up for Ian Devlin. They had written it, and Mark Teschner, the casting director told me that they're like, "You know who would be great for this? Seamus." And he's like, "You better just offer it to him. Don't even make him audition for it." So that's what they did.

We're wondering how a renowned doctor is also a trained assassin?
I have been wondering that myself. Well, they're both good with their hands. They have to have good eyesight and patience. There's a lot of parallels between being a doctor, particularly a surgeon, and an assassin. Both need precision timing. It surprised me, it threw me for a loop when I read that. I was like, "What, wait a minute. I'm gonna kill Sonny? Wait a minute, how did this happen?" I'd like to know a definite answer too.

The character who's going to take out Sonny must ruffle the feathers of the General Hospital fans. Have you read the fan reactions to Ian online at all?
I confess I do, only because I've never been on a show where I get that kind of instantaneous feedback. I do a lot of theater, so you get the feedback from the critics, and with any kind of criticism you have to take the good and you have to take the bad. There's a bunch of good Ian criticism out there, and there's a bunch of bad Ian criticism out there.

And then the fact that the child's involved. I think there's going to be something that kind of comes out with a child being involved, something in Ian's past where it's just instant regret. Something involving a child, I think that's all I can say.

According to The New York Observer, All My Children star Leven Rambin will soon be releasing an album.

Izzy Gold has started Izzy Gold Records, a fledgling record label that is working with three new artists who will be familiar to the types of people who are familiar with the rest of Mr. Gold's social circle.

Leven

“The track with Liam is really dancy; whenever I play it when I D.J.at GoldBar, people really start to shake themselves," Gold told the newspaper. Whereas: "Leven's doing something similar to what Fergie did, so we’ve got her singing and there are some rappers on the track. "
