Guiding Light Renewed, To Evole

picture-1.png CBS has renewed Guiding Light for one more year.

The deal keeps the soap opera on the air through 2009 - but that doesn't mean fans will be stuck with the show's new artsy-fartsy, überjumpy format, reports TV Guide.

"I'm very pleased with some of it, and some of it needs to evolve," said CBS Daytime boss Barbara Bloom. "I agree that some of the camera work is shaky and frenetic and some of the close-ups are too tight — and that maybe we've broken rules that didn't need to be broken — but this is a work in progress.

We're just a few weeks into this new production model. I think everybody who's complaining needs to lighten up."

Been a HUGE fan of Guiding Light for probably 30 years now. And, unfortunately, I'm considering abandoning the show considering how horrible the quality is now. Bad lighting, awful camera angles (& shakiness), and even worse sound quality & story lines. What are they thinking? Bring in a new "hottie"... someone needs to break it to them... Harley is NOT attractive. How can someone that scary looking up close have supposedly been married 5 times? I mean get real. Maybe the powers that be need to watch Y & R & see how to really improve their show. Bring back the OLD format... PLEASE!!

I have watched GL since I was a teenager, now in my 50s I have took it off my tivo. It saddens me that what use to be a top rated show is no more. Who is making these decisions? Who ever it is needs to be fired! I am following Gus and Harley to AMC. GL, if you want to save this show, you better go back to what the fans want; this format and story line is not working. Listen, or next year there will be no show. If the fans stop watching, GL is gone. Bring back what once made GL so popular.
