Beth Ehlers Speaks on Ricky Paull Goldin Departure

With the departure of Ricky Paull Goldin imminent, Guiding Light costar Beth Ehlers has written the following email to her fans:

Beth Ehlers ImageHello Everyone,
How can we say goodbye to Ricky Paull Goldin?? I know for all of you the idea of Guiding Light without "GUS" is unimaginable. For me the idea of "Harley" without "Gus" is unimaginable! 2008 was supposed to be the year of their reconciliation.

Ricky and I both anticipated those scenes, to finally get the opportunity to fall in love again... for all of you. Obviously, that won't happen now. And it's a tragedy. Please know that I am as saddened, as devastated as all of you. He isn't just the love of Harley's life.

He is my best friend. Please send good wishes his way! And maybe in the future, who knows . . . maybe these two people will meet again.

I can only hope . . .
All my love,
Beth Ehlers

I think it totatlly sucks that Guiding light left Ricky even get close to the door to leave. While the last scenes were cry inducing I am saddened that he's gone. GUIDING LIGHT SHOULD HAVE OFFERED HIM THE SUN AND MOON TO KEEP HIM! I love all the characters and will continue to watch, but it will not kill me to miss an episode anymore!
Gus and Harley reuniting was worth staying home for.

  2. Beth Kingsbury Says:

I have followed Guiding Light ever since I would sit on my Grandmother's knee and listen to it on the radio. The show might survive the new format, but not without key characters. Gus and Harley were key characters, with a chemistry rivaled only by a select few throughout the history of the show. I am so disappointed that the PTB have crawled into the mentality bed of Corp.America by willfully losing seasoned actors and replacing them with lower paid, annoying actor wantabees who have no clue about the thread of the show. Then they say they have to play to the younger generation. POOP!! Have they forgotten us - the millions of Boomers who have supported the show? We're not dead and if you'll excuse me, I'm going for a bike ride (motorcycle):) Beth Ehlers and Ricky Paull Goldin - You are the best and I will be catching you on AMC.
