Susan Flannery Mulling Retirement from The Bold and the Beautiful

Flannery, SusanWhile fans of The Bold and the Beautiful probably can't envision a show without the character of Stephanie Forrester, the words of her portrayer make it sound like they may need to in the near future.

"I'd like to leave in another year or so," Susan Flannery recently said Australia's Ten Network, adding that she "might have to really think that through," of course.

While Flannery doesn't wish to disappoint her fans, she's resolved to move on to the next phase of her life.

"You know, you're in the grave a long time, and it's nice to be able to do other things, so I'm seriously considering it," she said.

Jay Kenneth Johnson Blogs About Direction of Days of Our Lives Character

Days of Our Lives star Jay Kenneth Johnson hasposted a message on his website to fans. In it, he talks about the direction of his character, among other topics:

I do like the fact that 'Philip' is getting the opportunity to interact with many other characters. The crash was an unfortunate situation, but 'assuming' we make it back to Salem, I think that interaction will continue.

The Ireland storyline and aftermath was a long couple of weeks. Hopefully you got a chance to check out the "behind the scenes" clips I put together. I wanted you to get a feel for how big of a production the crash was. The actual crash set took up half the stage, with the crew on the other half. As big as it was, I think we pulled it off.

That said, it was sad to see Frank Parker's "Grandpa Shawn" go. He is one of a kind, and will be missed. If you get a minute, try and write him to say "thanks" for all the memories.

Super Soap Opera Weekend Winner to Guest Star on One Life to Live

news908.jpg Carolyn Carns (pictured), of Carlisle, Pennsylvania describes herself as shameless. She's featured in a newspaper article due to her behavior - and success - on Disney's recent Super Soap Opera Weekend...

If her performances seducing All My Children actor Cameron Mathison and ad-libbing with One Life to Live actor Forbes March are any indication, she isn’t far off the mark.

During a trip to Super Soap Opera Weekend at Disney World in November, Carns was picked to participate in “I Wanna Be a Soap Star,” acting alongside the stars of daytime TV for a shot at a walk-on role on an ABC set.

Not only did Carns defeat the competition in the first two rounds, she was named the grand prize winner and will head to New York City and the set of One Life to Live next week.

In the Soap Opera Spotlight: Kim Zimmer

Zimmer, KimKim Zimmer has won three Daytime Emmy Awards and has starred on Guiding Light as Reva Lewis for years. She actually began acting on soap operas in 1978 when she played a terrorist on One Life to Live.

Therefore, you must know everything there is to know about this veteran actress, right? Let's find out...

  • She still takes public transportation.
  • Zimmer has performed her own nightclub act.
  • Her first French kiss was with a neighbor named Brad who had a glass eye. Don't tell us you knew that fact!
  • She enjoys vacationing in Tahiti and Taos, New Mexico.
  • Alec Baldwin, her former co-star on The Doctors, gave her a shout-out during a 2006 episode of Saturday Night Live.

Charles Parnell: Back on All My Children

After several months of Jerome Preston Bates playing the role of Derek, Charles Parnell has returned to the character he left in the fall of 2007.

bio_parnell.jpg Today's return was an enjoyable one: Derek and Jack got to watch Erica begin (yet another) crash and burn course.

Charles left All My Children last fall to appear in the off-Broadway production of "The Overwhelming,"a play that focuses on the aftermath of the 1994 slaughter of 800,000 Tutsis in the African Republic of Rwanda.

The production follows one American family who travels to Rwanda just before the attacks and follows what happens to them during the aftermath. Charles played an evil government official whose power continues to grow after the slaughter.

Did you think Bates did an admirable job filling in? Let us know right now in our forums!
