David Chisum: New to Soap Operas

A David Chisum PictureDavid Chisum joined the cast of One Life to Live last year. Before that, daytime television wasn't exactly on his schedule.

“I never watched soap operas,” the actor said to eyeonsoaps.com. “Probably because I wasn't home during the days and no one in my family watched the soaps. I began to study them when I started auditioning for the soaps.”

Chisum took on the role of Miles Laurence last February and become a valuable member of the show's core since then, playing major roles in story lines such as the death of Marty Saybrooke (Christina Chambers).

“After Marty's death any hope of impressing Marty and perhaps having some kind of understanding between them has gone,” Chisum said. “I believe Miles really loved Marty and wanted to be a good husband to her but was terribly ill equipped. I think Miles has been slowly redeemed and needs to shed the guilt while moving forward with his life.”

Moving forward, Chisum is interested in what One Life to Live fans have to say about where they want his character to go.

“Miles is a unique character in that he is limitless in the potential storylines,” he said. “The beauty in playing the character is that he can be unpredictable and naïve. I would like to know what Miles fans and [One Life to Live viewers] want from Miles. I'm interested to know what fans are interested in seeing Miles experience.”

Billy Magnussen: Read for Role on As the World Turns

Billy Magnussen PicHe's the new Casey Hughes.

But what do we really know about actor Billy Magnussen? CBS.com was determined to find out...

CBS.com: Tell us a little about yourself.
Billy Magnussen: I was born in Queens then I moved to Atlanta, Georgia. I lived there for 10 years. I went to college at the wonderful and amazing North Carolina School of the Arts. I have two little, awesome brothers. My parents are amazing and really supportive of what I do. Let's see what else. I was a jock growing up--football, lacrosse, soccer, basketball.

My brother is unstoppable right now as a heavyweight. He's amazing and only in high school. I also play the guitar and I'm in a band. We are just playing around here but we want to go out. We totally rock out!

CBS.com: How did the role on As the World Turns come about?
Billy Magnussen: Actually when I was in college, I had auditioned through my agent and I had put myself on tape and then they were interested so I came up to audition. Long story short, I didn't get the character that I was auditioning for. But, then the recast of Casey opened up and they remembered me so I was brought back in to test. I tested with Marnie Schulenburg (Alison).

An Interview with Terri Colombino and Austin Peck

terricolombinoaustinpeckjpil.jpg Terri Colombino and Austin Peck are the hottest non-couple on daytime TV.

The As the World Turns co-stars recently spoke with Soap Opera Digest about their relationship, characters and other topics:

Digest: Was there chemistry right away?
Peck: I thought so. I tried to give her permission to be the way she needed to be with me as the character and really hit my feet off the table or really come at me. I don't even know if I said anything, but even after we started working, any time it was in the script for her to be physical with me, I said, "Push me! Really go for it! Just do it!" It was giving her permission to be how she needs to be as Katie to Brad and that just gives me what I need.
Colombino: He still does that.

Peck: But as far as the screen test was concerned, I saw the character and I felt like I saw what they wanted and I saw the traps that most actors or that I myself might have made. I knew that I was going to go for the fun. Katie is trying to grow up and take her life seriously. Here comes this guy who doesn't take much of anything serious, but he is inside. And I thought that was the fun thing about him that he was challenging her.

Mary J. Blige: Excited for Return on One Life To Live

Previous reports had indicated Mary J. Blige would perform on One Life to Live for back-to-back episodes airing this Thursday and Friday. Now, however, it appears as though the award-winning singer will appear on February 15 and February 18 instead.

Either way, she's excited to make a return to Llanview

"It's absolutely amazing to be integrated into a soap opera I've watched since I was a little girl," said Blige. "I performed on the show two years ago and had a ball, and I am beyond thrilled to be welcomed back again."

Brian Frons, Daytime President of Disney ABC-Television Group is equally psyched.

"Mary J. Blige represents another of today's top recording artists who sees the power of ABC Daytime as a promotional platform to reach the highly engaged, passionate audience of women 18-49," he said. "Music is an important component to daytime storytelling -- it is relevant, contemporary and builds emotional intensity."

Blige will perform on One Life to Live as part of Starr Manning's 16th birthday party. We simply went bowling for our 16th birthday celebration.

Kelly Monaco Speaks on General Hospital Romances

A Kelly Monaco PhotoOn General Hospital, Sam is known for being unlucky in love. Maybe that's because she often chooses bad boys such as Sonny and Jason.

But even a romance with one of the town's finer citizens, Lucky, didn't work out too well. Why not? Kelly Monaco explains as much to Soap Opera Weekly.

Soap Opera Weekly: Were you surprised that so many viewers were really enjoying the Sam/Lucky coupling?
Kelly Monaco: I'm always surprised by the reaction to any relationship. You never know how the audience is going to take to it. The only gauge I have is from Super Soap Weekend. Fans seemed to be split. Half the people are Jason and Sam fans. Half are on the bandwagon to this pairing. So half of them hate one or the other [couple].

Weekly: Do you like the Sam/Lucky story?
Monaco: Sam and Lucky's romance was nice. It was sweet. It was friendly. It was innocent. I mean, gosh, Sam did do a lot of manipulating and crap [to land Lucky], but he was teaching her a lot.
