An Interview with Marcy Rylan

The past 12 months were an eventful time period for Lizzie Spaulding.

As such, CBS.com caught up with her portrayer, Marcy Rylan, at a recent photo shoot to find out what is in store for Lizzie this year on Guiding Light.

Adult Storyline

I started on the show and did the whole baby storyline and the Jonathan/Tammy/Lizzie triangle. I lost my baby. Honestly, I thought something would happen to the baby. Because it's a soap opera! We do all these adult storylines - who wants a crying baby around the set?

I was nervous after the baby died that [the producers] would jump right into a love interest. Sometimes you see that a baby is born and then next week you tune in and it's like the baby didn't happen. The Jonathan/Tammy/Sarah storyline was a really big deal, from the way they left the show and Tammy's death which was heart-wrenching.

When we were shooting all those scenes all the actors doing it were sad because, yes, the characters were dying but, we were also losing the actors.

Catherine Hickland: Words of Wisdom

A Catherine Hickland PictureCatherine Hickland, star of One Life to Live, chatted with Soap Opera Digest for its February 5 issue. The publication has published a few of the star's best lines from that interview:

"My three favorite words after ‘I love you' are, ‘And so what?' Really, if it's not a death in the family, for crying out loud, and so what? You're going to get past it."

"Until we take responsibility, there is no growing." — On her philosophy that we contribute to our own heartache

"Everything starts in the mind, so if you think about your ideal body weight and your ideal face and you take care of yourself, I believe you can control a lot of aging with your mind." — On striving to look the same at 90

"Sometimes, we just have to let things go. We have to let people go, maybe not forever, but when you see that someone isn't going to be able to rise to what you aspire the relationship to be, you have to let them go."

A Look at the All-Time Greatest Soap Couples

In honor of Angle and Jesee (Debbi Morgan and Darnell Williams) returning to All My Children, Entertainment Weekly has listed its top soap opera couples of all-time.

Here's a look at two. Review the others now:

BO AND HOPE (Peter Reckell and Kristian Alfonso): Days of Our Lives

bo-hope-days-of-our_l.jpg

LOVE'S FIRST BLUSH Salem's foremost couple met when Hope was just a teenager babysitting for Bo's family. After a few years of adventures and intrigue, they got hitched in a lavish English wedding. (But that wouldn't be their last trip to the altar...)

HAPPILY EVER AFTER? Hope has since returned from the dead, dispatched Bo's new fiancée, overcome amnesia, and coped with brainwashing that had her thinking she was a long-dead princess. And after a grueling separation a few years back (Hope wrongly thought Bo had helped their toddler son's killer cover up the crime — hey, it happens), they found their way back together and gave birth to a new baby girl.

LUKE AND NOAH (Van Hansis and Jake Silbermann): As the World Turns

Nuke

LOVE'S FIRST BLUSH Luke thought for sure that he'd fallen for a straight guy when he found himself drawn to Noah. But one pretend kiss (followed by much agonizing and one really spectacular kiss) made Noah come to terms with the fact that he was also gay. Then all they had to do was keep Noah's dad from killing Luke.

HAPPILY EVER AFTER? After surviving two murder attempts, the guys went on a New Year's Eve date, and soon Noah moved in with Luke and his family.
